I booked this room last minute, and wasn’t expecting much for the price; however, safety and location were key for me. The man at front desk who checked me in was extremely kind and helpful. He even offered me a choice of rooms, and I was beyond pleased with the condition upon arrival. I chose the room with balcony as I didn’t mind the “noise” from the street, as considered it part of the experience and can easily sleep through anything. What I can’t sleep through is my door being opened TWICE in the evening (once around 8pm - I didn’t have top latch on and assumed this to be an honest mistake - I screamed and a man who I couldn’t see said “I’m so sorry”, and shut the door. I immediately approached the door and double checked I locked it properly including the top latch. Around 2am, someone tried opening my door again, and managed to unlock the bottom lock, but luckily the top latch kept them from entering. As a young American woman traveling solo that evening due to friends with different flights, I was terrified - and I consider myself to be quite Street smart. I had no idea what to do at this point as someone had a key that was able to unlock the door to my room whether that be the hotel staff, faulty lock system, or another guest (Or trespasser). I literally thought to myself, I may have to escape via my 2nd floor balcony if need be. Also the toilet didn’t work - AT ALL. Neither did the tv but I was informed of that. Staff said they are checking into the lock situation.
