"Overall it was a good stay. The onsen is amazing! Rooms are big and spacious, but furniture is showing signs of getting dated and in need of a refurbishing. Comfortable pillows and bed a little hard for my preference. We had for dinner the Luxury Kaiseki including 4 dishes, of which 2 were great (sashimi and sukiyaki) and 2 others I didn’t enjoy, although appearance was beautiful. The dinner included the sushi buffet, but our waiter didn’t explain that properly, so I found it out only at the end...

"We stayed two nights in a Japanese room with private open-air bath. It was fantastic. The room was clean, modern and had everything we needed. Words cannot describe the private open air bath which we used as much as possible. We had dinner and breakfast included - these meals may be challenging for western tastes but if you're feeling adventurous, go for it! Unfortunately the public bath was closed when we visited so I cannot comment on this."

"I loved my stay at Hakone Airu. It was peaceful, quiet and the staff were able to speak English. The facility was very tourist friendly. I absolutely loved the private onsen and being able to dip in and out whenever we liked. The lounge space next to the private onsen is such a bonus. The bathroom and shower were very clean as well. The only slight discomfort was the fact the shower is exposed to the outside so can be very cold when you initially step in the shower during winter time. "

"We arrived too early to check in but the staff who was there on the morning of 2/11 was so helpful in getting us situated with lockers to store our luggage until check-in time. We appreciated the helpfulness and patience of the staff member that day. She and another staff member were there at check-in at 3:00 and again they were so helpful. We would stay there again. The hotel is also so convenient due to being in walking distance to Atami Station as well as to bus and taxi hubs."
