"Booked last minute as we needed to break our journey. Arrived at 20.30 hrs. Staff were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. As food was only served till 9pm we put our bags in the room and came down for some food. The menu looked good and what we ordered didnt dissapoint. I especially loved the chips qhich were treble cooked. Our room was clean and fairly basic, in a nice sort of way. "The lodge was good, breakfast was nice, and the staff were friendly. The only downside was the entrance, straight off the A1. No slip road made it difficult to slow down enough to get in without missing the entrance which I did the first night and had to go up to the next road to turn around and try again, plus it’s terrible try to cross over the A1.
