"When I think of primitive I think of a tent and sleeping bags and a trip to outhouses or a private spot to do your business. Cabins in a Clearing is a step up; though the bathroom arrangements are as described above. There are porta potties but quite away from two of the three cabins. That isn't fun. The cabins are clean with a comfortable bed and linens, and while there is no electricity there are battery powered lamps indoors and a protected area to charge your phones and laptops. Don't...

"Cabin was right up by road heard traffic constant ,neighbors was just across street cutting grass heard lawnmower running ,oil rig running a very noisy place to stay no solitude."

"We had such a unique experience at our rustic cabin. We were greeted by a horse, dogs, chickens, and more! Michelle, the owner went out of her way to make sure that all of our needs were met. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking to get in touch with nature but does not want to go tent camping. "

"Overall we had a nice stay. Clean, quiet and nice location in the small town of Nelsonville. Only comment on advice related to breakfast is get there when it's planned to start as there's a set amount of food and that is it. Food was good but we were a little late getting to the first come first serve style. But overall was a very nice stay."

"We had a great time. The cabin is near tons of outdoor activities like hiking and swimming. Hocking Hills is beautiful. The cabin was very clean and the host went above and beyond with hospitality. There are tons of extras like a water cooler with hot water on tap, coffee, creamer, even marshmallow roasters. If you are looking for something between camping and staying at a hotel then this cabin is perfect. You can have a camp fire in the evening and still enjoy air conditioning. Highly recommend...

"The house was nice. I just wished that all of the beds were not firm. I chose a room with two beds, and both had very firm mattresses. Not everyone likes a firm mattress. I feel like if there were 2 beds, one should at least be a little less firm. I also think that the rugs in the bedroom need to be washed and cleaned well. It would also be nice to have a box of Kleenex in the room."

"The best experience My wife and I have ever had at a hotel. The manager Jessica was the best. Super helpful with everything. Great person to talk with. She ended up being our bartender at the hotel bar and it was an awesome experience. We went for my birthday and they even had a birthday card taped to our hotel door. It was fantastic. Can’t say enough about our whole experience. I would never stay anywhere else. The only thing is that all hocking hills hikes are about 20 minutes away from the...

"Spent one night here as it was a half way point to our final destination. Quaint over 100 year old historical building. We pretty much had the place to ourselves as no one but guests stay on the property. Other guests arrived after midnight but we never saw them. Walkable distance to small downtown with several bars and restaurants. Morning breakfast was usual fare but could have been kept a little warmer. "It is a relaxing area. We enjoyed our stay."

"It was ok for what we wanted. The heat is an issue. It was definitely very cold in the back room. The "kitchen" is tiny, but comparable to a hotel kitchenette. The property is nice and the people are nice."

"You won’t get claustrophobia here - open, rustic decor, feels a bit like a really big, cool man cave. Two games could use some attention — small version of foosball needs repaired or replaced; the bumper pool table needs nuts to hold down the bumpers; the jute box needs repairing as well. The hiking was outta this world! Reminds us so much of many spots in Zion National Park in Utah. Ohio’s best kept secret!"

"Great property. Almost like walking back in time. The housekeeper/breakfast was professional and friendly. There was one small problem but it was handled quickly and professionally. We would very impressed with everything. Would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to get away. We will be back sometime soon."

"10/10 Couldn’t give this place a better review!!! It was exactly what we were looking for with amazing views, cozy but spacious cabin, and plenty of things to do in the area! Our 2 dogs had a blast checking out the massive yard out front and we saw TONS of wildlife. Each day was perfectly wrapped up with a cookout on the grill, a fire going and star gazing in the hot tub. We will absolutely be back soon!"

"This was super cute and cozy, we wanted to get away for weekend anniversary and not kill the bank account. Very quiet relaxing, little trail behind it was nice as well. We had 2 small dogs and was great for them as well. James was very quick to respond when needed something or asked questions. Next time we stay gonna try out the Skoolie!."

"Stayed for the weekend during Nelsonville Music Festival. Cozy set-up. Fire pit, hot tub, hammock posts all made for a relaxing stay. Just make sure that when you Google or Waze directions, you search for "Hidden Gem Cabins"... If you only enter the address, Google may take you 1/2 mile or so down the road. Property manager helped get us back on track. If you're going to be in and out, I recommend downloading an offline map of the area since service can be spotty (service at the cabin was good)."
