The spacious cottage Tvera is situated in the secluded pristine environment of the widely untouched south coast of Iceland’s Westfjord. The lodge is centrally sited for a visit to many spectacular nature sights, would it be the puffins of the Latrabjarg cliffs, the unique red beach of Raudasandur, all the natural geothermal pools in the area - or just the herbal vegetation and the creeks on a refreshing hike from the entrance door of the lodge. The surroundings of Tvera are steeped in history with one of the first discoverers of Iceland, the ninth century Norseman Hrafna-Floki who gave Iceland it's name, choosing to settle here so he could enjoy the beautiful view over the bay.
Tvera sleeps up to 11 guests, but please notice, there's an extra charge per person per night exceeding 6 guests.
Tvera is very close to the ferry harbor Brjanslaekur, where the car & passenger ferry from the town Stykkisholmur arrives, passing the cult-island Flatey on its way across the bay. It is also close to the road junction for the main town of the Westfjords, Isafjordur, hosting "Tjoruhusid" the best fish restaurant in Iceland. There is only a 25 minute panoramic drive to Dynjandi, the most beautiful and impressive waterfall of the Westfjords (100m high).
In the late summer/autumn you can pick blueberries all around and mushrooms too.
