"One thing I learned after staying at this hotel was to not judge a book by its cover. Upon pulling up to the hotel, I was concerned. First, it is in a somewhat desolate area with very little around. Secondly, the sign off the highway looks as though a bomb went off in it. Lastly, the photograph on Expedia was not a good representation of what the actual exterior looks like. "This is a nice little place right off of the interstate and close to some fast food joints. It’s nothing special, but it is clean and doesn’t suck. Much better than Motel 6 or Super 8, but probably in the same category. Nice helpful and friendly staff. Parking was easy to find, but spots across from the building had some puddles and mud. Would stay here again! Recommended for anyone looking for a quiet stay that doesn’t cost too much."

"We had the very best weekend here! So much so, that my kids are convinced that we need to live in a Tiny House and my fiancé is shopping for one haha! The location is perfect, we had everything we could have possibly needed, the hosts are the sweetest and sooo helpful and responsive! Communicating with them was an absolute delight. We plan on staying here annually with our children and we cannot wait for our next stay!"

"We had a great stay here! It was so convenient and perfect for our family visiting the Garden of the Gods. The kitchen was fully stocked with all cooking utensils, dishes, coffee, pans, etc. My kids loved the big bunk bed! The beds were all very comfortable. We made great memories here! Thank you!"

"This property is in a quiet, secluded area with plenty of property to explore and enjoy family time. The house is perfectly appointed, very clean and has rustic charm with all the modern amenities. The coffee nook was a nice touch as well. The location is in the middle of all the activities we participated in, hiking, zip lining, swimming, antique shopping and wine tasting. I recommend this house and location for a trip to southern Illinois."

"This cabin is adorable and had all the amenities of home. It was very clean and the property itself was beautiful. It was very quiet, and was perfect for a small family. We opted to sleep on the pullout couch as the loft beds required climbing a steep ladder. This wouldn't be practical trying to get to bathroom at night. Please know the cabin is located next to another home, but we never saw anyone at that home while we were there. It is a very remote location if you want seclusion."

"Overall, this was a nice place to stay. The lake is very nice and we had access to a beach and a dock. The only thing that we felt was missing was a grill. There was a fire pit outside with a grate held up with bricks, which was what we were told we could use as a bbq grill, but I think we were expecting an actual grill. Still, overall everything was great."

"We stayed at this cabin for the April 2024 solar eclipse. Don and Kate were incredibly helpful and accommodating. They allowed us to use their fire pit and yard. The cabin was clean and well-stocked. It’s in a great location on a hill overlooking Lake of Egypt and a quick drive into Marion, IL."

Pros: beds were super comfortable, the living room was cozy, kitchen was well stocked with amenities, two grills for outdoor cooking, fast internet, and a good dock to use.
