We stayed four nights in the hotel in February 2025.
The Scandic Ishavshotel is very well located in the heart of Tromsø, at a walking distance from all attractions, restaurants, etc. The airport bus drops you right in front of the hotel so that’s also very convenient. The room was a bit small but the view of the harbour largely compensated. And as a lot of people mentioned, the breakfast is great!
In terms of negatives, we didn’t get a real double bed but rather two single beds stuck to each other. Not uncommon in Europe but the fact that it’s two blankets instead of one is a bit odd. Also, there is no cleaning of the room unless you request it with a QR code (not uncommon once more) which we did and they never showed up: less fun when you run out of toilet paper and soap at the end of the stay. They didn’t leave a note saying they stopped by either so even if they showed up during the brief time we were in the room, it’s disappointing for an hotel of this price.
All that to say that this could have been wonderful but turned out to be average. Fortunately the Northern lights made the stay in Tromsø worth it.
