Country Cottage - Tomar

This charming little country cottage is located in a small village just 7 km from the mystical Templar city of Tomar. It offers a relaxing stay in a countryside setting suitable for two adults (with optional baby cot upon request) within walking distance from the train station and bus stop. Where you will also be able to buy beautiful locally sourced Portuguese fresh fruit and vegetables from the roadside stall and freshly made bread daily.

This air-conditioned holiday accommodation consists of 1 bedroom, 1-bathroom with shower, fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, small dining area, living area with flat-screen TV. It also includes free WiFi and private parking on the property. (towels, bed linen and a hairdryer are also available).

Relax on the covered front porch in the evening with a glass of local wine, cheese and olives or sit out in the sun during the day and enjoy our lovely weather with a wonderful view of our neighbouring olive groves and vineyards.

Here you can visit the Convent of Christ, Tomar Castle, Pegões Aqueduct, Forest of Sete Montes, Museu do Fósforos (Collection of matchboxes), Mouchão Park and Praça da Replublica, the main square in the old town.

The local towns of Tomar, Torres Novas, Entroncamento, Ourem are all within a half an hour traveling distance. Where you can find outstanding Portuguese cuisine such as the acordas (purees of bread, herbs and garlic), Bacalhau Assado com batatas a murro, (roast salt cod with small baked potatoes). The feijoadas (Pork and Bean Stews) Bitoque (Pork steak with a fried Egg on top and chips) and many deserts such as Pao-de-lo (sweet sponge cake) and Tigeladas (egg, flour and sugar pancakes cooked in the oven) and of course Pastal de Natas (sweet egg custard with flaky pastry).

Lisbon airport is just 1 hr 15 min away by road or rail, Nazaré, Sanctuary of Fátima, Monastery of Batalha, Golegã with its annual horse fare, the lake of Castelo de bode, Almourol Castle and the Agroal river beach, just to mention a few, are all in close proximity. Portugal has a reliable, inexpensive rail service which makes all of these locations an ideal day trip experience.
