The Bay View cottage sits high up on the banks of the James River giving you an amazing view across the river of historic Jamestown Island. The home is located on the James River with stairs down to your own private beach to relax and enjoy. Spend time fishing, kayaking, swimming, or just sunning on the beach.

Just a free ferry-ride away from Williamsburg and the historic triangle, enjoy the quiet tranquility of river life while being close enough to visit Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Busch Gardens, and everything the Williamsburg area has to offer.

The home is clean, comfortable, and private. Enjoy a nice meal or early morning cup of coffee on the back porch while taking in the river views and watching bald eagles fly by....they are regular visitors. Then enjoy your day exploring the nearby attractions, or just relaxing on the river.

Family Get Away on the River
We had a great time staying at the Bay View Cottage. Very peaceful and comes with everything you would ever need. Thank to the hosts for making it so accommodating. So many fun things to do in the area. We will be back in the future.

Little Gem
The riverfront cottage was a perfect place for our family to get away for a few days! It is so quiet and peaceful but still within reach of all the attractions of Williamsburg. We enjoyed relaxing on the beach and kayaking. Taking the ferry to Jamestown is quick, easy, and was fun for the kids - we saw dolphins! Thank you for sharing your little gem with us! We will be back for sure!

Peaceful, relaxing vacation space
If sitting by the water with river breezes gently blowing, enjoying the quiet (occasionally interrupted by honking Canadian geese with their broods of adorable fluffball chicks, or passing ships), walking along a shell-strewn beach at sunset, or sitting in rockers on the screened porch watching the sun set over the water to the evening symphony of crickets sounds heavenly to you, you have found your vacation home. We enjoyed a wonderful respite from the stress of our lives relaxing here.

River Beauty and the Trees
What a view! Off the beaten path but perfect in every way. The living space is small but the screened porch made up for it. The weather prevented use of the kayaks but still enjoyed the water. The felled tree made for lovely pictures on the river bank. The golden eagles were also a treat as the sun rose over the water.

Very cozy and comfortable!
We loved our stay at this wonderful little cottage by the historic James River! The view was amazing, the cottage clean and comfortable. It was easy to find and close to the ferry that took us to explore Jamestown, Yorktown, Richmond, Petersburg, and Williamsburg. We love the history of that area. We love this area and have visited a couple of times before so we will be back to stay here when we return.

Peaceful, cozy getaway
We had a fantastic stay at this terrific little cottage perched above the river. Quiet, peaceful nights with the relaxing sounds of the waves lapping up on the shore and we loved sitting on the screened-in porch watching a storm roll in. I'll definitely be back.

The most thoughtfully-prepared VRBO we've ever stayed at
In the last 15 months, we've stayed in 13 different VRBOs (lot of recent travel), and this property was the best-prepared spot we've ever stayed at. So many thoughtful details (extra toothbrushes / toiletries / kitchen supplies), the *softest* sheets, fantastic layout for our family to enjoy a few days right on the river. Location is great for bopping out to Williamsburg for day trips but enjoying the morning / evening in seclusion. Watched dolphins from the back porch in the morning and loved the time strolling the beach and taking the kayaks out.

The Perfect Place!
We loved our stay at The Cottage! It was such a peaceful place and just as described. Super clean and had everything and anything you would need right down to extra toothbrushes and fire starters. The beach area is wonderful, it’s like being on your own private island. The kayaks were a huge hit with the kids and my husband I enjoyed them as well. We saw bald eagles, deer, and so many shells! The cottage is tucked away at the end of a drive and feels very private. Such a quant and cozy place. The ferry to go into Williamsburg is less than a mile away and it’s free! We used the ferry several times and enjoyed it as well. We had 5 people in our group and we all had plenty of room and we’re comfortable. The hosts are very friendly, knowledgeable of the area, and easy to get in touch with.

James River House
My family had the best time on our Spring Break! The house was big enough for all five of us. It was extremely clean and was well stocked with all the necessities and even a few extras. The beds were very comfortable and the house had many cool touches and character. We enjoyed playing corn hole out in the backyard, collecting shark teeth and fossils on the beach, and even spotting a few bald eagles and groundhogs. My kids also loved riding the ferry over to Williamsburg. This is a very special place!

Peaceful Retreat
This cozy, comfortable cottage was a peaceful retreat for us after a stressful time in our lives. Sitting in front of the blazing riverfront fire pit in the evening, watching the stars come out, listening to the river rhythmically lap the shore while waterfowl called goodnight -- all were a healing balm to our souls. During the day, strolling the private beach for enormous scallop shells, hiking through Chippokes State Park, riding the ferry to wander though historic Yorktown, Jamestown, Williamsburg, riding bikes on the lovely Virginia Capitol Trail and Jamestown Island, then returning home on the ferry to spectacular sunsets on the river -- made for a wonderful week, even in February. The cottage had fun decorations, and welcomed us with special touches by the hosts (including ample firewood!) The hosts were immediately attentive to our suggestions, and definitely aimed to please! We were so grateful for this special hideaway!

Quiet get away
The owner was very responsive and the property was clean and well equipped. The beach was fun to explore even in winter and we found several fossilized sharks teeth. It's only a short drive to the ferry for Jamestown and Williamsburg but far away enough to be quiet and with surprisingly dark skies for stargazing.

Amazing Hosts
Great property, love the views of the river and quiet setting. House is very well put together and comfortable. Hosts are amazing!! We arrived during terrible cold snap which caused power to be out. Kevin & Jamie went above and beyond to make the stay pleasant and ensure we were taken care of. Responded immediately with questions and concerns. Can’t thank them enough. Would happily stay there again!!
