Loved the Kern River running behind the lodge. I am sure I saw gold glittering in the rocks, but forgot my pan! Ha, Great little lodge and area! We were passing through a lot of beautiful scenery. "

"The Whispering Pines is a great mountain retreat. We were greeted by a colorful neon sign. I love the wood cabin feel of the rooms. The bathroom was extremely large with two sinks, a separate shower, and a separate tub. Our room overlooked the mountains and river, which was gorgeous. We even had a balcony. The staff made sure we had all the information we needed upon check in. The location is extremely convenient—right outside the main center of Kernville. Our only issue was that the bathroom...

"I can honestly say I've never stayed in a cabin without a restroom or electricity and I heated it with the wood they provided which was very funlight were propane lights, lit with a match. However the drive up and down the Mt. Was at the least, not for the faint of heart...very rough on my car."
