** PLEASE NOTE - I no longer have access to a laundry service that is able to take care of providing clean towels and linens. Please understand that I would like to provide this service, but I am unable to. Thus, you’ll need to plan on bringing your own. I do apologize for this.
*** Please read this entire description before booking, and feel free to ask me any questions you might have! ***
I have had some recent complaints regarding a few items so please read the following info prior to booking. Your booking this cabin acknowledges that you have read and understand the information contained in this ad.
This RUSTIC cabin is located in a wooded and grassy area. There are bugs and there are spiders and there are other furry critters in the area. The cabin is typically cleaned on a Monday after folks check out. The cleaning service has an hour round trip travel time, so it is likely it won’t be “freshened up” immediately prior to your arrival if you come later in the week. Please expect there to be a sign of activity of these bugs and spiders and other pests in this natural wooded area.
The lawn service might not always be able to mow or trim weeds directly prior to your arrival. Many factors such as rain, wooded property access, and land topology play into this. This is not a metropolitan or town location. If you are expecting that, understand you might be disappointed and won’t receive a refund.
Sometimes, a window might fail to lock. However, all main entry doors are secure and have locks on them. We have never had a security incident since we began cabin rentals in 2012. I have had many, many very happy customers. Many folks come back to each of my locations each and every season. However, a few have not been happy due to the items listed above. Please be sure you understand the above information before choosing to stay here.
This simple cottage is located on 21 scenic acres to allow hiking, campfires, grilling out, or taking a nice soak in the relaxing hot tub! It is located in South Bloomingville, OH, a mere 4 miles from Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Conkle's Hollow, and many other local attractions.
Plates, bowls, pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker, toaster oven, and trash bags are included.
The cabin has central air conditioning, an electric central furnace heater, ceiling fans, wood burner, leather couch and recliner, porch swing, and a picnic table out back! It has beds to sleep 7 (please see below for a description of the bedding arrangement), has satellite TV in the living room, a full kitchen with range, refrigerator, and microwave. Outside, there is a propane grill on the front porch. There is also ample space for a nice campfire to roast hot dogs and make S'Mores! Jim-Bo's bar and grill is right next door within walking distance if you so desire!
Bedding arrangement: There are a total of 5 mattresses on which to sleep: 1 queen size bed in the bedroom (sleeps 2), 2 twin bunkbeds in one corner of the greatroom (sleeps 2), 1 twin bed in the opposing greatroom corner (sleeps 1), pullout full size couch (sleeps 2) {Entire cabin sleeps 7}
Please note: I have very good feedback and I pride myself in trying to make sure folks enjoy their time here. I will do my best to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. In order to achieve that, I want to make sure you are aware of a few items:
The low water pressure issue was FIXED! I was able to install a booster pump in the cabin, so no more issues with low water pressure! Thanks to all those who left reviews to make me aware of it. The issue is finally behind us!!!!
The cottage is in a rural setting. It is located in the middle of a wooded area, where it is moist and the cabin itself sometimes gets little sun. Therefore the cabin can at times be slightly damp upon arrival, but it does have full central air conditioning (as well as an electric furnace) for your use when you are there.
The cabin walls are concrete block but covered on the inside and outside to have a rustic wooden feel.
As shown in the images, the back yard / fire pit area does not have a fence or barrier around its perimeter. There is not a "cliff" style dropoff here, but as in most places in hocking hills, there is a slope off the back yard area and downhill side of the cabin. Please be aware of this if you are planning on bringing young children to be present in the back yard area.
At times the satellite TV signal might be weak, or an item within the cabin might not be functional. Items such as these will be addressed ASAP by the property managers, and I will always do my best to make sure you are notified prior to booking.
The bathroom has been updated to accommodate those who are in a wheelchair or have mobility challenges (but these additions are not yet reflected in the images). Two grab bars have been installed in the shower stall. Two flip-down grab bars and a rear grab handle have been installed for the toilet area. To use the flip-down bars, simply lift up on the bars and allow them to slowly drop into position, and then push the bar toward the wall to lock it in place. To raise the bar, pull it away from the wall, raise it, and then allow it to drop into position for storage.
Finally, my property is not a rustic log cabin with all of the finished touches of one. However, you will see that my nightly price is one of the least expensive in the Hocking Hills region. I am very close to the caves. I do not charge for additional people OR pets. I do hope you enjoy your stay!
Don't delay! Get out to the Hocking Hills!
PLEASE NOTE - this property is located in a rural setting with open grassy areas and woods nearby. We do our best to keep pesky rodents away but at times there could be a rodent that was just caught in a trap. We have tried poison, traps, and using nothing at all; we have landed on continuing to use mousetraps. Poison causes them to die in the most inopportune places and having no traps at all just leads to larger issues. If you happen to find a mouse in a trap we apologize - we truly are doing the best to can to make the pests disappear. Just please be prepared to place all food in sealable containers or in the refrigerator so you don’t attract them even more!
In addition to small furry pests, an occasional wood roach might be wandering around a cabin. I assure you these are NOT a cock roach. Please google “wood roach”. They feed on moist damp wood. They don’t really want to be inside but they might have been carried in on firewood or wandered in looking for a mate. They don’t eat human food and they don’t want to be inside. If you find one, please either dispose of it or simply throw it outside. Thanks for your patience as you venture in to the rural wooded areas of Hocking Hills!
