Casa Miriam A is one of the holiday homes available in a complex. Please find a general description of the complex below, and please scroll further down for a description of Casa Miriam A.
The Miriam apartments are part of an old country house and is surrounded by an orchard. The complex is on the road which links Sorrento and Massa Lubrense and it is near the antique walkway that takes you to the Capo di Sorrento and the famous rocky beach known as “Bagni della Regina Giovanna”.
You can reach the beach on foot by following an antique walkway paved in stone and that winds between cultivated terraced olive groves which descend towards the sea. This is a walk not to miss: you go down this shaded path that has been dug out of the stone walls and you enter into a forgotten dimension, without traffic or noise. At the last bend you are taken by surprise by the dazzling view of the coast and the sea. You have arrived at the Capo di Sorrento which is the headline that separates the Bay of Sorrento from the smaller Bay of Marina di Puolo. Your glance takes in, on the side, the charming Bay of Sorrento and to the front, the Gulf of Naples with the Vesuvius in the centre. It is setting of such extraordinary beauty that it will stay forever in your heart.
From the path on the headland sheer above the sea you can see the famous ruins of the roman villa of Pollio Felice. This place was chosen by the Romans to build their sumptuous holiday homes due to its beauty and mild climate. Pollio Felice house had its own private berth and a small pool of water enclosed by rocks and connected to the sea by a cleft in the rock. Here the matron Romans could have a swim far away from watching eyes. In more recent times, at the end of the 1400s, Queen Giovanna d’Angio loved to take a dip and it is for this reason that this small suggestive bay is still known today as the “Bagni della Regina Giovanna”.
There is a pathway that starts from the headland where there are the ruins of the roman villa which takes you to a bathing establishment. Here you can enjoy swimming in crystal clear water and diving from the rocks but it is important to be able to swim otherwise it is dangerous. From here, on foot, you can reach the coarse, gravelly beach of Marina di Puolo. It can also be easily reached by car from Casa Miriam.
