We were excited to stay at the Gunn House, but sadly, the reality of our stay fell far from our expectations.
Firstly, as my husband is mobility challenged, I asked for a ground floor room ... which we were given, but they failed to tell us that the car park is down quite a few steps, that the pool and breakfast salon are on the 1st floor up very steep and rickety stairs. So, to begin with, for anyone who has issues with stairs, I would not recommend it.
Our room... where do we start.... the door was very stiff to open, and had no security from the inside at all... it had obviously swollen or twisted as each time we opened or closed it, it was a fight to do so.
Although the window had curtains and blinds, the door just had nets that didn't black out any light, and the nets fell off at the slightest touch. The edge of the window where the glass meets the wood was covered in a thick film of dirt, and it was old dirt... not just a bit of dust from the previous guest.
The room smelt musty to begin with until we eventually managed to turn the air-conditioning on...to achieve this, you had to stand on a stool... as the unit is so high, you cannot reach the controls.
The A/c unit also extremely dusty and filthy, and it looks like the filter has never been cleaned.
The floor of the room isn't flat at all, and the furniture, although picked to look antique, was falling apart, trimmings coming off the upholstery, the marble top coming away from the dresser. We had 2 queen which
