We had a great time in this house for a family of 4. House was very clean and as described in the listing. It is on a quite street, yet 5 min walk to couple of great dining options (Seasalt, The Cookery), waterfront park, Alaska Sealife center and a scenic roadside waterfall. Plenty other great options within couple of miles.
House is very tastefully decorated with antiques. Amenities were adequate and in decent shape. It is a older structure but kitchen, appliances, bath are recently upgraded. Heating coils are under the floor, so you have to be patient while adjusting the thermostat.
Pre-check in communication with the host was excellent and he provided helpful local information. I would have given 5 stars except for a hiccup after we checked in. The host, who lives on 2nd floor of the rental, walked into the room without introducing himself and started giving instructions on how to use kitchen, operate blinds, use thermostat, bath tub, fancy shower, what to do, what not to do etc. We felt the whole interaction was bit unnecessary and cringeworthy (especially when all 4 of us had to stand in the bathroom while he showed how to use the shower!). He also did not have accurate information about number of people on the reservation (2 according to him as opposed to 4 per confirmed booking). We just ignored that interaction as a weird but honest misstep, and carried on with enjoying the vacation. The host was helpful otherwise. As long as renters are prepared for the mandatory "in-person" instruction session, this should be a excellent experience. The host did compliment us on leaving the house in great condition.
