Grund is a modern luxury house of 220 sqm. only 45 minutes drive from Reykjavik with hot tub, steam bath, washer & dryer, Internet wi-fi, TV. Perfect property for anyone who wants to see some of the most beautiful sights of Iceland and relax with all the comfort you can imagine. Small soccer field goals if you want to play and several golf courses in close range. Located in the heart of 'the Golden Circle' the famous sightseeing route.

This house was the perfect spot for an Iceland trip. It is well-positioned in the Golden Circle but only about 15 minutes away from Selfoss and HveragerĆ°i. There are beautiful views from the house. The sauna and hot tub (pool) were a bonus.

This truly is a ā€œluxury modern home.ā€ It has all the amenities in a clean, comfortable, stylish home set on a hillside with beautiful views.This house is the place to stay! The hosts are incredible! We had a complication due to a flight cancellation and they were so accommodating. They were kind, understanding, and quick to respond and help us find a solution. They saved us from being homelessness for a night! Really grateful!

Rural Selfoss

Our family of 11 had a perfect stay in this quiet, rural area close to Selfoss. The setting, location, and facilities fit our every need. We stayed for five days and were able to drive the Golden Circle, visit the South Coast and Vik. The kitchen is spacious for 3-4 chefs and well furnished. Our family enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. What a treat to relax at the end of each day. Thank you to our hosts Thorsteinn and Bjargey.

Lovely home, with great location

We stayed here for several days. The house was exactly as described. Lots of kitchen items and a wonderful coffee, so pick up some beans on your shopping trip. There was a slight issue with the water when we checked in however the host had provided his number to call. He was immediately available and have great instructions on how to correct the issue. Smooth checking, great communication, looking forward to staying at their properties more.

Fantastic Family House

Very nice place to stay and relax after a day trip. Plenty of room good showers and a hot tub sauna and steam bath. Very clean when we arrived. Good cooking facilities. We had a small issue with the hot water system that was solved quickly after consulting the owner.

Great Location, Great Stay

I stayed here with my wife and adult children for part of our Iceland vacation. House was in great location for visits to the Golden Circle and we all enjoyed our stay. Check-in and check-out were easy, amenities were as described and communication from host was prompt. We would differently stay again if we visit in the future.

Perfect spot

Beautiful property about 20 minutes away from Selfoss. Fully equipped kitchen, heated floors, and enough space for a group or family. Thorsteinn was very quick with communication and very patient with our questions. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights during our stay and will always have fond memories of Iceland!

Perfect location

Great time for our first trip to Iceland! Our family of 4, 2 college age sons, enjoyed a week of sightseeing and relaxation over the winter break. Grund was located perfectly for us to do short day trips up and down the southern part of Iceland during the short days. We didnā€™t use the hot tub or sauna because the snow was too deep around it but didnā€™t miss it at all. We were lucky to see several nights of northern lights with a spectacular display on New Yearā€™s Eve. It is a great house ,location and host. Thanks for a wonderful visit!

Christmas in Iceland

Our family braved the cold and spent a week in Iceland over Christmas. The property couldnā€™t have been better. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, steam sauna, cooking in the beautiful kitchen and the proximity to wonderful sights close by. It was a vacation to remember! If I could give more than five stars I would!

Awesome Property and Location, perfect for exploring southern Iceland and light viewing!

Awesome, great location in a 'neighborhood' not too desolate, but sparse enough for excellent viewing right on property on walkable in the neighborhood in all directions. Excellent property itself, and really close to Selfoss for food, drinks, etc. Excellent experience and hope to be back!

Great spot for getting to all destinations on the golden circle

The property is huge and can sleep a huge group comfortably. We had 11 people and there were more than enough accommodations. The house had an issue with the hot water during our stay but the owners worked on getting it fixed and gave us a partial refund because of it. A little hard to find at first and I suggest dropping a pin on your map after you find it.

Wonderful stay at Grund

Grund is truly a gem. It's a beautiful and very comfortable house in a quiet and sparse "neighborhood". It was such a treat to watch the sun set over the Icelandic landscape from the sauna and watch the aurora right from the house (it's a fairly good viewing point with lots of open sky, dark enough though you could drive another 45 min away to be in a totally dark zone). Thorsteinn is a very responsive host and we were in touch during the whole stay. I will be recommending Grund to my friends who visit the island.

Perfect for our Group

Our large group was very comfortable in this house. We were able to spread out, we all had our own bedrooms, the kitchen was well stocked & large enough for all our cooks! We used the sauna, hot tub, and the steam room. No jets in the hot tub, but it was wonderfully warm. The hot water, as with many listings in Iceland, was a struggle at times, but the owner was very responsive & trying to manage the new hot tub heating. The views were gorgeous & the deck was wonderful. We would all highly recommend staying here.

We had 11 staying at the house. It was the perfect size. Thorennstein was very helpful. Our adult children enjoyed the hot tub after a day of hiking. One thing that would have helped is a binder with info on how to work various things. Appliances work differently than in the US. Didnā€™t affect our time there, just would have been helpful.

Great week at Grund

We had a fantastic week at Grund in the Selfoss area! This is a prime location to use as a launching pad for adventure in the southwestern area of Iceland. Most sights are within 90mins of the property and the capital is only 50mins away. The house (and bunkie) sleeps 10 comfortably featuring a large open concept kitchen with gas stove, dishwasher, fridge, etc for great cooking. We enjoyed the privacy and amenities of this family friendly property. Relax on the deck, or enjoy a panoramic view out the back of the sauna. The house was clean, and the hosts were quick to help out with questions. We would recommend.
