Seal Harbor Cottage!

Located in the quiet and beautiful village of Seal Harbor, Grammy's House is just steps from Acadia National Park! Guests will enjoy the easy access to the Jordan Pond House, one of Acadia's most loved destinations in the park and famous for their amazing popovers! Bar Harbor is just a short drive from the home and offers restaurants, shops and tours for guests to enjoy. The home is full of history and charm which guests are sure to love!

Grammy's house is full of history and charm. The cottage was once owned by Nelson Rockefeller's gardener, and they raised their family in this cottage. The cottage has been lovingly taken care of and the grandson of the original owner has adorned the home with historic photos of Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. Vintage maps of the area, books and other historical items will give you a peak at the history of our island.

The cottage accommodates up to four guests. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, and the second bedroom has a queen-sized bed. A small kitchen opens into a larger living area, perfect for conversation and relaxation. A deck off the living room offers outdoor seating and a grilling areal. A full bath and laundry area complete the home.

Grammy's house is located in beautiful Seal Harbor. Seal Harbor is a wonderful small village just steps from Acadia National Park. Wildwood Stables allows guests to explore Acadia by horse drawn carriage and is located just a few minutes away from the cottage. Their tours follow the carriage roads, originally constructed by John D. Rockefeller between 1913 and 1940. Nearby hiking trails include Day Mountain, which offers a nice view of the harbor. Seal Harbor Beach, one of only two ocean sandy beaches on the island, is a short walk or bike ride away.

In addition to easy access to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor is only 8 miles away and offers shopping, dining, boat tours and sightseeing opportunities. Northeast Harbor, a beautiful coastal village, featuring shops and local restaurants, is less than 5 miles from the cottage. Stop by the Northeast Harbor Marina and watch the boats come in and out of the harbor!

Nicer than the photos
This house is much cuter in person and very comfortable. Cellular phone service, as in much of the island is negligible but the internet is strong so just set up you phone via wifi. The beds seem brand new and are very comfortable. The bathroom is updated and the amenity kits in the bathroom and kitchen are a nice touch. The kitchen is adequate but it could use a few more soup/cereal spoons. The road is very quiet and the proximity to carriage trails is fabulous. We had one maintenance issue but communication is quick and easy and the issue was resolved. It was a very pleasant stay overall.

Wonderful Cottage mins from Acadia NP
Four adults stayed in Grammys cottage, literally steps from Acadia NP. Away from busy Bar Harbor, this gem was perfect for 2 couples. Spacious bedrooms, fully stocked kitchen, comfy living room, dining area and beautiful deck with forest view. Quiet neighborhood, 3 minutes to nice sandy beach.. Washer and dryer a big plus.

Delightful Time in Seal Harbor
This cottage was the perfect spot for our family of three, who love getting out into the park and staying away from the crowds in Bar Harbor. The house was quite comfortable and maintained well. My only criticism (though this factor didn't diminish our stay) is that the kitchen is small, with a smaller-than-usual electric range and counter space is hard to come by. It can get tight in there when you're trying to prepare a meal. Overall, we had a great time and plan to return in the future.

Wonderful stay!
Everything was perfect! What a cozy comfortable home, this was perfect for our vacation. The host was communicative and flexible and everything was great. We all slept well, enjoyed using the kitchen, smart tv, reading on the couch, going for a run, and it was close to some trails. If we come back to Bar Harbor we’d love to stay here again! Just a couple small snags that were fine but other people should be aware: - the pictures and the ‘About this property’ included a grill and mentioned a grilling area so we bought stuff to grill, but it turns out this isn’t included anymore and just needs to be updated - we couldn’t get cell reception in the area, so during check-in when we had a little confusion bringing up the keypad we started to worry, but luckily we’d saved a screenshot of the wifi info so we could log on to message the host. I definitely recommend anyone coming to the house to screenshot the welcome info when they have reception because it’s very spotty on the island

Great stay in seal harbor
We had a wonderful stay. The bedrooms were very spacious and comfortable. The house feels like home as soon as you walk in. The bathroom is perfect with a wonderful tub/shower with plenty of water pressure. The kitchen is where this property could use some improvement. Just a bit, it’s not bad. We eat in a lot on trips so it took some getting used to the layout. The kitchen had all the things you would need but items were hard to find and some of the kitchen utensils are basically antiques. A new set of kitchen tools and utensils would be a big improvement. Some of the drawers are filled with very random things. Pots and pans are in the laundry room. The sink washer and oven are very small which is fine. For people that want to be on the go, eating away each meal, this would not be a big deal. It’s not a deal breaker for me. We would stay here again. Overall I loved the house and the location is perfect for Acadia. You could literally walk in to the park from this location. Jordan Pond is so close. If we return to Acadia I would rent this house again!

Clean, peaceful, and comfortable
Seal Harbor Cottage offered and delivered on many levels of our expectation. It is well appointed and clean. The neighborhood is excellent; ideally located relative to points of interest within Mount Desert. The bedding was superb; often a source of struggle for me personally. The rear deck provided a private and quiet respite for reading and meals. Highly satisfied with our initial experience!

Location is great
This sweet cottage worked very well for us! Seal Harbor was very quiet & away from crowds. Just a short walk down the the quiet Jordan Pond Rd is a lovely carriage trail that takes you through the woods to Jordan Pond! It is a 15 minute drive to busy Bar Harbor and many of the trail heads for some spectacular hiking!
