Steal away to this log cabin tucked into a quiet, wooded community of Saugatuck. With a private hot tub, a screened back porch overlooking a nearby lake, and sleeping arrangements for eight, this home is a perfect spot for an ideal family vacation. Practically in your backyard is gorgeous, spring-fed Goshorn Lake, a small, no-wake body of water that's clear and quiet, providing idyllic scenery. A small association beach and a fishing dock on the lake are within walking distance as well.

What’s nearby:
This cabin is a quick ride down the local bike trail to the shops, galleries, and eateries of downtown Saugatuck (two miles south) and Douglas (three miles south). Goshorn Lake is nearby with opportunities to swim, kayak, paddleboard, and fish. You'll also be three miles southeast of Saugatuck Dunes State Park, three miles northeast of Oval Beach on Lake Michigan, and four miles northeast of tranquil Douglas Beach.

Girls Weekend
We were a group of six middle age women that travel every other year since our mid 20's and we are always looking for a home that will be the main focus of our get-away since we want to sit around and eat and drink and reconnect. Along with that we like to have a nearby place to go do a little shopping and dining and maybe some fun touristy things. This place had it all!

Difficult host
I had a really frustrating experience with this property. They refused to communicate through the Vrbo app and wanted to communicate exclusively through separate email and hidden text to cover their tracks. The host was very unresponsive, and several of the amenities didn’t work. Even though they charge a hefty cleaning fee, we were still asked to strip the bed, take out the trash, and do the laundry before leaving promptly at 10am. Honestly, the place was only clean because of the previous guests. The house itself was nice, but you can hear everything, and a lot of the furniture was broken. Some windows had missing or broken blinds, and the photos they posted are definitely outdated. As for guest service, I was not able to get ahold of anyone until 10pm on our last night, and even then, the staff was unhelpful. The Wi-Fi never worked despite several attempts to fix it, and when we finally got a response from the host after 30 hours, they told us they were off duty until Monday. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place or Vacasa based on my experience. I hope the home owner understands how poorly ran the property is.

Broken things
House was nice for the most part. There were issues with the house that we weren’t aware of. The grill didn’t work so we had to alter dinner plans. Screens were installed wrong, doors didn’t shut properly. Just seemed like things were on the verge of falling apart.

Broken screen, bed bugs, no communication
This stay started off decent. The screen on the front door was broken. Not a big deal because the front door wasn't going to be open at all as it was November. We dropped off our stuff inside after a long drive, went to dinner, got back sort of late so we hit the hot tub which was full of sand, went to bed. In the early morning hours my daughters found bed bugs in their bed. And there were more in the bathtub. We took pictures and sent them to the company. Gathered our stuff to head out. We didn't even stay 24 hours. I have been attempting to get some resolution from vacasa and have not heard anything back yet. Its been weeks. And I've had to reach out to them. They let me know (after we were gone and at approximately 5pm) that Orkin would be there between noon and 2 that day. The last I heard from them they were still "investigating". I 10/10 do NOT recommend this place. It has been a total hassel with no resolve. And it was supposed to be a relaxing weekend with my mother, sisters, and daughters.

Terrible experience
Gorgeous area, Door broke could not be locked total disregard for our safety hot tub quit working absolutely no reply from maintenamce or local management. Furniture falling apart some dining room chairs could not even be sat on Started calling half hour after arrival called multiple times in the 2 day time period. No concerns or issues were addressed

Dirty and poor customer service
Emailed the company before our stay to ask some questions regarding the amenities at the house and got no response. Upon arrival to the house 2 of 4 beds had hairs all over the sheets, moldy vase of flowers, left over partially eaten food containers in cupboards. Company texts after arrival to check on status of house. I reported the dirty sheets etc, was told someone would contact me ASAP. Never heard from them again. The location of the house is great, beautiful outdoor space. We still had a fun weekend even with the poor service and not very clean house

We had a great time staying here! Location was great and in the summer, would be convenient for the beach and pier. Home was clean and well-stocked. All enjoyed the hot tub. Highly recommend!

Peaceful, quiet, very well stocked for basic amenities. We paid the extra fee for late check out which was nice. The hot tub was cold the first night. We called the next morning and it was taken care of by that afternoon. We all enjoyed our stay very much!

Cabin is exactly as pictured. Very nice. We went for a winter getaway and was not disappointed. Beds were comfortable. Hot tub was clean and up to temp upon arrival, best spot in the complex for privacy in the winter. It is right next to the beach path so there may be more foot traffic in the summer. Great proximity to see state parks, go into town and Lake Michigan. One tip, book this cabin on Vacasa and save yourself the Expedia mark-up. I tried to do the price match and Expedia would not do it.

This was a great stay!
I highly recommend checking out this property! It was very central located near all the city’s attractions. It was also very clean and organized when we arrived. Many towels, products and extra bedding were available. As a mother with kids it really helped that they kept the home well stalked. This property was right on the lake and we had a blast. We will return in years to come.

Although the house had some maintenance issues, we had a lovely time. The HOA had some inconsistency in its policies with other cabins (our family had rented 4 cabins), but we would rent again. Goshorn Lake is enchanting.

High hopes—but disappointed
The location was great! We loved the private beach access! The property itself was good but we were disappointed with the cleanliness and upkeep, both inside and outside, of the property. The dining room rug wasn’t clean when we arrived. There was food still on the floor including an entire bag of chips. We couldn’t turn the ceiling fans on because there was so much dust on them. The back porch was filthy, the downstairs bathroom didn’t work properly and there were rotting brussel sprouts in the crack at the bottom of the fridge door. There was also a huge patch of poison ivy in the back yard that made it difficult to allow my small children to go play. We enjoyed our time but for the money we paid we expected more.

Bad communication, very dirty.
I had multiple issues with my stay that remain unresolved and without apology. 1. Poor communication prior to visit. I messaged several times through VRBO and never received a response. Turns out this property is managed through Vacasa and they apparently don't check for messages on VRBO despite listing rentals here. 2. Dirty. I arrived at the check-in time and the cleaning person was still there. She rushed out without finishing her work. The main floor was filthy with sand, dirt, and debris. The previous renter must have had a fire because there were many ashes all over the hearth. Sand was in the carpet and we found pills right under the coffee table with some other candies and a pack of cigarettes. I had my one-year-old with so the idea of her crawling on the dirty floor and possibly swallowing that pill was appalling to me. 3. Terrible communication. After seeing the state of the rental I called the management company. The customer service rep didn't even offer so much as an apology. He said he could send a cleaning crew. Not a reasonable solution since our time there was to be spent in the cabin itself, in the living room area to watch a conference. I asked that they send a vacuum and refund the cleaning fee since we are having to do the cleaning ourselves. He said he would do so. I called two hours later after not hearing anything. The next rep also didn't apologize and said she would "move up the ticket" Still no vacuum by the next morning. So I send an email and never received a response. 4. One of the comforters also had a blood stain on it. Still, NO ONE has responded to my simple request. Extremely disappointing and the worst experience I've ever had with VRBO and I've used them worldwide.

Great stay despite a few problems
We had a great stay with family over the weekend! The cabin was big, the fireplace was wonderful, and we loved the hot tub! We were disappointed with a few things that were advertised - one of the beds was a full sized that was advertised as a queen. This was a tight squeeze for one of the couples in that bed. The grill did not have a propane tank so we could not use it. And there were only a few pieces of firewood so we had to leave to go get more. Despite the false advertising we had a great weekend!

Great cabin for a winter weekend getaway
The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for our weekend getaway. The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed using the hot tub and fireplace. We were able to snowshoe around the property, and the location was very close to town. Definitely would recommend!

Great winter getaway
We had a great time at this property. There was plenty of space, comfortable beds, and lots to do. The cabin is very cozy in the winter and we loved the hot tub. The kitchen is well appointed, everything is very clean and well maintained, and the cabin is in a great spot fronting the lake. We had fun exploring the Saugatuck Dunes State park, playing in the snow, and getting takeout from Saugatuck and nearby Holland. Thanks for a fun stay!

Thanksgiving getaway
This was a great place to get away with our family. It was set up great with 3 bedrooms upstairs and 1 on the main floor. The kitchen was pretty well set up with the cooking utensils we needed. The weather was not nice so we spent a lot of time indoors, and there were plenty of games in the cabinet to keep us occupied. We appreciated the gate at the top of the basement steps since we had a crawling 10 month old! We would definitely consider staying here again!

Great Lake house
Enjoyed our brief trip to Saugatuck and found the cottage and location to be ideal for our needs. The lakefront beach in back of the cottage was perfect for our little ones to play at and the proximity to town made it easy to enjoy Saugatuck but yet still feel a little more woodsy and secluded. WiFi worked great as well, which was important given I had some work video calls to handle.
