A relaxing blend of modern and farm-house, in a quiet, rural. neighborhood. An idyllic place to gather with family and friends,.
The porches and windows offer expansive vineyard and garden views. Plenty of room for cooks, helpers, and advisors to join forces in the fully equipped kitchen and dining area. The bedrooms all have their own ensuite bathrooms. The 1.3 acres invites meandering and meditative time. A comfortable TV room is separated but centrally located and is very close to the refrigerator and the open great room.
Details-
The large great room is 2 walls of mostly glass that open onto multiple decks. Its placement on a gradual hillside gives the views an intimate but open, bucolic feel.
The fully equipped kitchen and 10' x 4' island is perfect for meal prep alone or with the entire gathering. The 10' dining table seats 8 - 10 comfortably. Comfy chairs and a sectional fill the north end of the room.
The great room is surrounded by a TV room and 3 bedrooms, each with an ensuite bath. Two of the bedrooms have 9' tall sliding glass doors that open directly onto the deck and views of the surrounding rolling hills and vineyards or garden. The third is perfect for the person who wants to pull down the shade and miss the sunrise.
The garden features a bocce ball court, horseshoe throw, swing set, sand box. If cornhole and Jenga are your thing, we have those, too!
Begin the day sipping your tea or coffee and watching the sunrise. End the day with dinner and a glass of local wine while watching the sky turn pink. There are large tables on 2 of the decks. I recommend doing it all on the outdoor decks. Wear a fleece jacket for the winter, a light sweater, or go sleeveless in the summer.
You may notice that our reviews took a break in October of 2017. That was when the Santa Rosa Tubbs fire took 22 lives, 36,810 acres, and 5,643 structures. We survived unharmed but all that remained of the house were a few shards of pottery and ironwork.
Now, 5 years later, there are silver linings. The once dense forest has opened up to reveal our views, We loved our 1970's ranch house but it is replaced by a home that is cleaner, more modern, more open, more environmentally efficient, and far more fire-resistant. It is all-electric, solar, will soon use gray water in the garden, and it is more conducive to an indoor-outdoor lifestyle, The garden, and the furnishings are continuing to recover and evolve, but the house is complete and finally, I can once again relax and feel restored here. I hope you will feel the same.
I have a studio-nest on the rooftop that I sneak into while I check on the garden but I generally leave the house when guests/renters visit. I always let guests know if I will be around.
VENTURING OUT: We are a 10-25 minute drive to Healdsburg, Forestville, downtown Santa Rosa, We are close to Calistoga, and more wineries than you can possibly explore in a mere week. For outdoor pursuits, there is hiking in Annadel State Park, Hood Mountain, Shiloh Ranch Reserve, etc, or head down to the Russian River for kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and enjoying the small towns and restaurants on its banks. You might also find yourself content to relax at home and explore our neighborhood on foot. If you feel a hankering for the ocean, we are a 40-minute drive to the coast at Jenner or Tomales Bay.
This is a cyclist's paradise. Options include anything from a relaxed bike ride through local vineyards to a long, rigorous but spectacularly beautiful century.
