A nice stay in Santa Clara, but details are overlooked
This townhome is in a newish development in Santa Clara, and it's a nice place. The community facilities were great - the pool is fun (my teens loved the water slide) and we enjoyed the ping pong, arcade machine and pool table at the clubhouse. The house itself is clean, spacious and comfortable.
But you can tell it's just an investment property for someone, because little thought seems to have been put into the details, other than to buy the cheapest items possible for certain things, like the entire kitchen. I generally cook a lot when we rent houses like this, and I was grateful we chose to eat out on this trip, because this kitchen frustrated me so much. No tongs? The only frying pan is 8 inches and the cheapest brand you can buy at Walmart. Pots are the same. The saddest salt and pepper shakers I've ever seen. No drinking glasses, just wine goblets, giant mugs, or enormous plastic cups. (If you have little kids, you should bring your own kid-sized cups.) This kitchen was put together by someone who does not cook. The pool towels are child-sized, and the weird industrial-looking brand hand soap is totally at odds with the "luxury" vibe they're aiming for in the bathrooms. Also, they don't provide any pickle ball equipment for the pickle ball courts, which was disappointing. I was glad we were only staying 2 nights, and I don't think we'd stay here again, given how many other options there are in the St. George area.
