As one of the few vacation rentals licensed for short term occupancy, we are dedicated to providing a clean and safe environment for our guests.

Welcome to coastal living at Costa Vida Cottage. We are less than 500 steps to the ocean in “East Beach”. This renovated cottage, complete with all new furnishings, beds and luxury linens offers two bedrooms (2 queens) each with flat screen tvs. The generously sized living room has a great room effect, including the dining area complete with mountain views and an adorable updated kitchen and vintage charm. Enjoy the front courtyard with gas BBQ and dining for 4 guests from this front unit of a cozy duplex. Four sand chairs, umbrellas and a cooler are provided for beach activities! We offer a Kryptonite Evolution Ground Anchor set in concrete for securing bikes in the driveway. Please provide your own bike lock and/or cable.

East Beach offers bike rentals as well as kayak, beach chair & umbrella rentals during the summer season. There are many places to enjoy in the Santa Barbara area including the Zoo which is about a five minute walk from the cottage. Stroll the boardwalk to enjoy miles of coastline. The Funk Zone (revitalized industrial area repurposed with trendy wineries, brew haus and shops) is a 5 minute ride for wine & beer tasting. Just steps away is Convivo Restaurant — fine dining on an ocean front patio. There is plenty of on-street parking in front of the cottage as well as a driveway. NOTE: Street cleaning Mon/Tues 1-3 p.m. Take a sunset cruise from the Harbor. BCycle offers electric/assist bike rentals around the corner from the cottage on both Milpas and Cabrillo.

Local Artisans display their wares on Sunday along the coastline. Loads of shopping & dining can be found along State Street. There are concerts at the Santa Barbara Bowl under the stars. The Waterfront Shuttle departs in front of The Santa Barbara Inn taking you along Cabrillo for under a buck while the Downtown Shuttle takes you up State Street. The Botanical Gardens are something to see in Santa Barbara and Montecito.

Montecito is a 3-4 minute drive south for some nice restaurants and shopping, also home to Butterfly Beach across from the Four Seasons hotel.

Located steps from the cottage is Tri-County Produce (family owned, local produce) offering an array of goodies to prepare your homecooked fixings.

Enjoy a softball game or a workout at Cabrillo Park around the corner from the cottage. The choices are endless at this East Beach location. Craft the vacation you need as you choose. Beyond expectation, amazing location
Everything was beyond expectation. Perfect location, walkable to grocery store, beach, wharf and downtown. Came with a parking spot, place was clean and had everything needed to enjoy a week at the beach. Highly recommend and hopeful to return one day. Thank you, great hosts !

Perfect four days in Santa Barbara
After reading all the glowing reviews of this property, I wondered if it was really all that. Now my four days here have come and gone and honestly the place completely lived up to expectations. I loved it here. Somebody really put thought into what would make this a lovely space for guests - and they thought of everything. Guests might want to know that the back yard does not seem to be accessible. Perhaps this is because it is a duplex. We were okay with this. The cottage was extremely clean and I loved how it was decorated. Everything I needed was there and everything had a purpose. I also loved that the kitchenware was attractive and high quality. The location was excellent. The walk to State Street was a perfect length. It was my first time in Santa Barbara and I can't wait to go back.

Relaxation at it's finest
If you can book a stay at this lovely cottage, consider yourself lucky. We can't say enough about the perfection of this home. Not only is it steps from beautiful East Beach, but it is immaculate with luxury touches. The host, Lee, is an incredibly kind person and is a phone call away should you need her. If we could give it ten stars, we would!

Best VRBO Stay Ever!
This was the best VRBO I've ever booked or stayed in with others. It is sooo cute! The location is amazing (right by the beach and Convivo - an awesome restaurant). It was very clean and had everything we needed. It provided the perfect place for a group of middle-aged women to reconnect and have a lovely get-a-way. I want to come back to this VRBO with my family!

Just what we needed!
This amazing house so close to east beach was exactly what our family needed as a time to connect. Close to bike rentals and bike path to Butterfly Beach as well as good restaurants. The house was very clean and comfortable tucked away in a quiet neighborhood.

The Perfect Little Place
This is our second time to stay at this property. The location is perfect. Just a couple of minutes away is a little grocery store that has everything you need. And every evening a taco truck is parked there. The cottage is so cute, spotless and is well equipped. We love sitting on the front patio enjoying drinks and a meal. The street is so quiet and peaceful, it’s the perfect place to end a busy day. We are already planning our next Santa Barbara get away at Costa Vida Cottage.

Loveliest cottage, beach community and time
Short term rental was never easier perfectly suited for accessing every site that local Santa Barbara offers. We walked to the beach, the pier, shops, night life, the zoo and great restaurants. The cottage was charming, spacious, and perfectly clean. We loved our evening glasses of wine on the patio, the incredibly comfortable beds, the driveway parking, the quiet and ever so friendly neighbors and community. We had no issues, and found all prior and posted instructions clear. We will be retuning and recommending the home to friends and family!

A perfect place to stay in Santa Barbara
This was a perfect place. It had everything we needed and more. It is well decorated, clean, close to the beach, & very comfortable. The kitchen is perfect you could cook a full meal there with no problems. There is a BBQ and table for outside eating and beach equipment. We will be back. PERFECTION

Excellent central location for Santa Barbara. Easy to get to. Easy to get out. Spacious living room and perfectly accessorized little kitchen. The place had everything we needed. Very pleased. Delightful Cottage and Great Location
We had a fabulous experience at this charming and cozy cottage! The beds are comfortable, the living room is spacious, and the kitchen is well-stocked. The special amenities were a lovely touch. We enjoyed the easy walk to the beach, and it seemed that everything we wanted to do was within an easy/short drive. We’d recommend this cottage to our friends, and we even talked about returning ourselves.

Near perfect in every way, but the odor kept me up all night...
Good: The place looked exactly like the photos. From a hosting perspective, everything was executed extremely well. And it was the cleanest short term rental I've ever stayed at in terms of dirt, dust, stains, etc. The furniture was very nice and comfortable, including really nice bedding/mattresses. The place had every possible thing you could need and then some. Bad: Random ants would show up in the kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathroom and get on/in our stuff. The house has a strong "old house" odor throughout, but we got used to it quickly. My wife slept with the baby in the back room and I slept with my other kid in the carpeted room. That room has a strong mildew odor that I initially attributed to the "old house" smell, but once I laid down, I realized it was much stronger. It's more noticeable when laying in bed because it seems to be coming from the floor/carpet. The first night I got into bed before 10 PM and couldn't sleep due to the odor. Finally, around 1:00 AM, I gave up and opened the window (it was 45F outside). It helped with the odor, but then there was an owl hooting all night. I finally fell asleep around 3AM and had to be up before 7 with the kids. This was our only full day in town and it was rough. The second night, I opened the window before bed and it helped again, but between the train horns, hooting owl(s), cars and people passing by, and the cold, I didn't get much sleep. I'm happy to be home.
