Dar Hajra, which has featured in many interior design magazines and travel features, is hidden away in a forest above the undiscovered ‘white village’ of Montecorto, close to Ronda with an amazing infinity-edge plunge pool.
In High Season from March to October the property is only rented on a weekly basis with all rentals beginning and ending on Saturdays. From November through to February 5 night stays are accepted.
From the villa’s amazing terrace - this is the highest house in the village - you're treated to stunning views of the Grazalema mountains. A path flanked by rosemary, lavender and honeysuckle climbs up to the house: it looks traditional enough from the outside but within, a big surprise awaits. The mountain has been wrapped into the fabric of the building with the rock adds a stunning decorative element: Dar Hajra means ‘House of the Rocks’.
A pyramidal atrium is the visual axis around which the open-plan lounge/diner turns. Three huge windows lead to the terrace and infinity-edge plunge pool whose waters seem to merge with the sky. The sitting room, kitchen/diner and study are one huge open space, there's a large master bedroom, extraordinary bathroom and hundreds of books, CDs and paintings. Upstairs is a second bedroom, perched like an eagle's nest on the third floor of the house. It has both north and south facing windows which catch the summer breezes, a great spot for a siesta-with-a-view.
The house has a fast, optic fibre wifi connection and an iMac computer. There's an Android tv with a sound bar with Netfilx, Youtube etc.
A discrete housekeeper cleans and tidies every day (unless you prefer her not to come in). In house-catering can normally be organised given prior warning.
Dar Hajra is no ordinary rental property.
From the moment you step in and see the views out through the triple run of huge windows you'll be happy that you've chosen this very special home. There are hundreds of CDs and books (the owner is a well-known writer on Andalucía), a huge collection of DVDs whilst the views from the open plan kitchen are also unforgettable.
This is one of Andalusia's most spectacular holiday lets, and we take great care to give guests really detailed information about how to get the very best out of the area.
I've written extensively about Andalucía and you will find copies of my walking guides at the house, including 'The Mountains of Ronda & Grazalema' (Cicerone Books) which can lead you to the best walks in the surrounding mountains.
Foodies will also benefit from our bar and restaurant listings which can help make your stay a great culinary experience, too. And we are on hand 24/7 to help you get the very most out of your stay in this beautiful part of Andalucía.
