Domus Claudiae is a 48 sqm charming apartment a few minute s walk from St Peter and the Vatican City ,old Trastevere and the historical center of Rome.

It is immersed in a green and silent surrounding and has been especially decorated by the owner Claudia with original frescoes to\' look like an ancient roman dwelling house of Pompei or Herculanum .

It includes a kitchen and dining room for 4 people equipped with electrical appliances (washing machine ,toaster ,kettle etc...) a bathroom including a shower with black and white tiles from the early thirties ,a double bedroom and a spacious living room with a convertibile sofa (double bed) armchair and satellite tv set .Air conditioning is in every room and internet wifi .

You will be able to relax and enjoy a really unique atmosphere in Rome.

Convenient location. Walking distance from Vatican. Bus stops near by to access many sites. Clean apartment with enough amenities for the stay. The AC was nice for afternoons and evenings when we came back from long days out visiting sites.

Great Location

This was a great location for access to Trestevere, the Vatican, and all of the landmarks in Rome center. Entering the premises can be a little difficult if you have heavy bags because the exterior door is located up about 20 stone steps, and the entry does not include a landing area. So you open the door while standing on steps and then enter the building. It can be a little tricky so be careful. The apartment was accurately described in the listing. The apartment is very comfortable including a nice seating area with a sofa and comfortable chair. The view out of the window is very nice if the neighbour's garden is in bloom which it was for us in May. The owner is very responsive and arranged excellent transportation from and to FCO. They also offered tours which we declined. The only real negative is the shower situation. The water heater is very small. Two people can take a very brief shower running the water only to rinse. You then have to wait an hour for additional hot water. We didn't come to Rome for the showers, so we managed. It was not a big deal. We very much enjoyed our stay here and would stay here again.

I loved my short time at this apartment and would absolutely rent again if visiting the same area. Easy walking distance to everything Vatican and anything else you need. Very comfortable and plenty of space. Highly recommend

Overall, a good stay. Nice host.

The apartment was comfortable and very pretty.Excellent mattress!The had-painted murals were a great touch.Very ample storage for clothing.....There are two sets of exterior stairs to walk up to the building. We are "seniors"; and my girlfriend packed heavy. Getting the luggage to the apartment was not easy.The surroundings were quiet; but in retrospect I might have chosen something closer to the heart of Trestavere. The walk to the restaurants....was a bit long. We spent a good amount of money on Ubers. Would have preferred to spend more on the rooms.

NO HOT WATER!!!!

This was a beautiful small little apartment in a good location, but there was no hot water for showering, not even warm water, The boiler is electric. It would not fill up or get warm. We had a terrible experience because of this. I would have given this a great review because the art is gorgeous, and the bed was comfy, but having to take cold showers is awful. The host did not respond to help us out either. terrible customer service.

Wonderful Stay

Relaxing in Rome

The property was great . . . very central location for both sight-seeing and dining. Updated, nice, clean and spacious accommodations. Communication with Emanuele (property manager) was very easy; he was always responsive providing us valuable information, in particular regarding transit to and from the apartment, including arranging for our transport to the airport for our departure. We highly recommend this apartment and would stay here again.

Upper Trastavere Perspective

This bright, quiet, creatively decorated apartment provided us with a peaceful stay in Roma. Access to the small travel library was an added plus. I found the quaint Art Deco style bathroom adequate but shower had a step up making it difficult for an mature adult to enter and exit. We loved the location, a convenience store and nice caffe just around the corner. Thank-you Sara for your kindness and cheerfulness during the check-in and with the car hire to the cruise ship port it was much appreciated.

Wonderful space in an ideal location

I spent a week in this location and couldnā€™t have been more happy. Throughout the booking and arrival process all my questions were answered promptly and they were so helpful and accommodating, even accommodating a small last minute change without problem. On arrival we were given a warm welcome and all information we could need was laid out. The space was really nice and clean and as it looked in the photos. I appreciated having so many amenities such as kettle, washing machine, cloths, crockery etc. The location is really great, I felt very safe and it was nicely central. I was able to get to St Peters within a ten minute walk so I was able to drop in there in the mornings before the crowds got too intense. The Trastevere area is wonderful for restaurants and atmosphere and the location was easy to walk to for the city centre. Iā€™d really recommend this location. Only having one key meant a little bit of coordination with the friend I was staying with, but overall I had a terrific experience with this location.

Nice apartment in perfect location

We very much enjoyed staying at Domus Claudiae, a uniquely decorated apartment with very Roman-like paintings. We easily could explore the whole of the city center and its many features on foot from its perfect location. The owners were always willing to assist with our queries. One caveat, though: accessing the apartment would be difficult for physically impaired guests.

Nous sommes ravis de notre sĆ©jour. Lā€™apparmement est trĆØs bien situĆ©, calme, clair et spacieux. Il est Ć©galement trĆØs original tant intĆ©rieurement par la deco , quā€™exterieurement. Cā€™est presque un miracle Ć  2 pas des immeubles et du trafic de la rue le long du fleuve de trouver ce petit havre de paix ... Le Check-in Ć©tait sans problĆØme malgrĆ© le retard de notre avion , sans problĆØme aussi la voiture rĆ©servĆ©e en mĆŖme temps. Seule remarque pour amĆ©liorer encore le sĆ©jour : des rideaux occultants seraient souhaitables sur les fenĆŖtres de la chambre car le matin cā€™est trĆØs lumineux... nous recommandons Ć  100% !

The apt has a quiet location but is not close to the charm and hub of Trastevere. The apt has a comfortable bed, nice hot water, and the person hired to check us in was very helpful and pleasant. The down side is the apt. has a neglected appearance; there were stains on the sofa cover, broken arm on the sofa, broken curtain hooks, down comforter was very worn and feathers were escaping through the patched spots, hole in the cover sheet, bathroom light shade had burn marks, light bulb out on a floor lamp and walls were in need of paint. The bathroom needed better cleaning around the sink and the shower walls. There is a definite lack of attention and care to this apt. This the first VRBO we found disappointing. We did not feel that there is pride and ownership of this property.

Great place in a great location

This property was in a great location for walking or catching a bus to get around. Itā€™s in a very quiet neighborhood, has a large bed and a nice size den for relaxing after a long day! Very clean and well kept. The only thing you should know is that there is a small water tank so hot showers need to be quick. There were just two of us so we timed them far enough apart so neither of us ran out of hot water (after it happened once)

Safe and convienent

This apartment was extremely safe! Just steps from the river but very quiet and I had the best sleep. Comfortable bed, everything you needed to cook meals, a great stay. My only issue is the way you are required to bring cash to pay. On this long Italian trip Iā€™ve pre-paid all other homeaway reservations. Carrying that much cash halfway around the world is not safe. Which is why I only stayed 2 nights. I would definitely go back when they started taking credit card payments, itā€™s such a great location.

Beautiful apartment blocks from all the best Rome sights!

We loved this little apartment! It is so close to all the best sights in Rome. Almost every evening we ate dinner in Vatican City and it was beautiful. The apartment is well appointed, so we could enjoy an espresso (and maybe an American style breakfast) before our adventures, come back to a cool oasis in the afternoon for siesta and then venture out again. We always felt totally safe. The hosts even arranged our transportation to the airport. We recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a centrally located place in Rome!
