The space
Spending time with family, and friends who are our family, can bring such happiness and appreciation for what is truly important in life. Our grown children have such fond memories of swimming at grandma and grandpa's, Friday night dinners, and holidays with games, movies, lots of good food, and laughing until you snort! Come create your own special memories in this beautiful home, situated on 27 private acres, just outside of Rolla.
We have updated everything in our home to make it even more welcoming and comfortable. The new bathrooms are so bright and clean, the bedrooms so comfy and cheerful, and lots of places to eat, play, and just relax, both indoors and out!
Upstairs: five bedrooms (two kings, two queens, a kids room with bunk and day bad with trundle) and two brand new bathrooms, with walk-in showers.
The main floor has one bedroom (king bed), one bathroom with a tub, a living room/dining room, eat-in kitchen, a family room (with washer and dryer tucked away in a closet), and a large foyer.
The full finished walkout basement features hand-hewn cedar, ash, and oak ceilings and trim, wood from our own land. The floors are a decorative cement and so beautiful. There is a large dining room, reading space, bathroom with tub, 2nd washer/dryer, kitchenette with a full-sized fridge, a large living room with sectional (pull out couch and daybed), TV, and play space for younger children.
The backyard is totally enclosed by a chain-link fence. Seating in the backyard includes: A cement patio with seating for four, a deck above the cement patio also has seating for four, and is connected to a screened-in porch with wicker seating for five.
The pool area, enclosed by a locked fence, has loungers, rockers, and metal table and chairs under a small gazebo.
A larger pavilion/gazebo a little further from the pool has a large metal table and chairs, grill, and electricity with lights and a ceiling fan. The Solo firepit and and other camp chairs are also nearby.
The front of the house has a sweet porch with seating for two but room for more. Early birds are encouraged to grab your coffee cups and carafe and sit outside to soak up the peaceful surroundings.
There are mowed trails that we hope you will explore to see all of the beautiful trees and wildflowers. During the summer we don't encourage off-trail hiking because of the the dang ticks and chiggers. The woods are fun to explore in the winter.
We have on disc golf goal that has yet to make it in the ground. I hope to soon report that it is up and ready for your discing adventure!
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire property except a locked storage room in the basement. We also use some of the shelves in the garage.
We have put in a Missouri native yard. This is the first year, so most of the plants are building roots and will not look their best until year three. However, we already have had many moths and butterflies. The front porch has two chairs, and with its west-facing orientation, it is a great place to drink your morning coffee. The side yard has a new rain garden, parking, some amazing rock outcroppings, and a door leading into the garage. The backyard is fenced and has native plants, mowed areas, a fire pit, and a large gazebo with a grill and outdoor dining table for six. Inside the backyard is an additional locked fence area with the swimming pool!! Pool Rules: Children must be accompanied by an adult, no glass, no pushing, dunking, or rough housing, please.
The tractor and other equipment are in the locked shed to the south of the house. Guests do not have access to this building. We may occasionally come to the shed to retrieve equipment. Please feel free to walk all the mowed trails. The woods are best explored after a tick-killing frost!
Other things to note
Even though the pool is accessed by cement, you may want to bring some flip flops because the ground can be hot. Sun glasses and protective equipment for kiddos in also recommended. All of the outdoor dinner and glass ware is on the floor of the kitchen pantry inside a large cloth container.
