Riverfront cabin on Rock River

Completely remodeled and updated 975 square foot two bedroom cottage. Featuring 65 inch flat-screen HDTV, fully modernized kitchen with new gas oven, french door refrigerator, new Serta-Perfect queen mattress in master bedroom and pillow-top queen in guest bedroom.
This cozy cottage sleeps four comfortably, and has a full dining room and laundry with washer and dryer.
Amazing river views as soon as you walk in, but this home boasts a three season room furnished with a huge L-shaped sectional couch, surrounded by windows for spectacular views and comfortable relaxation.
Outside we have a large concrete patio fully furnished including a gas grill and even a hammock. There is a large fenced in grass yard leading down a gentle slope to the river where you'll find a nice fishing dock where you will see bald eagles, deer and other wildlife.
Preferred age limit; 26 and above. no children please, two day minimum. Due to insurance no swimming is allowed. Pet friendly negotiable. Limit 2 dogs and I do have a $30 nightly pet fee.
Just to be totally open as I did have a guest mention this. About a mile down river from my place they do have a trap shooting range and in the summer and fall you may hear them practicing. If you have any concerns or have questions about when they are shooting please don’t hesitate to contact me. I was able to find the schedule online. On a side note my dog is Very noise sensitive and from that distance it doesn’t seem to bother her as we spend a lot of time there when we can.. please feel free to contact me if you have questions. Right on the river!
We loved it the moment we arrived. We spent two nights there with our Frieds and their little dog (we have a little dog too). Great fenced in yard and cozy porch. The kitchen Is stocked with everything you need, we brought lasagna, steak, crab legs. Comfy beds too. We will go back for sure!

Its a quiet neighborhood for the most part (some shooting activities nearby) Home is clean, has most of everything you need for a long stay, and pretty easy to find even if you miss the first turn!

Great Getaway
What a great little getaway. We “lived” in the porch and backyard and enjoyed just watching the river flow. There was quite a bit of gun noise from the gun range during our stay but the owner did mention this in listing. Quiet little neighborhood!

Peaceful River Getaway
We enjoyed a beautiful and peaceful getaway to this Rockford property. The house had every amenity and the fishing was great! The host was very informative and welcoming. Looking forward to another trip there!

We could live here! Would definitely recommend.
Favorite part of rental is secure gated backyard so dogs were contained and within sight while we were on the dock. And we caught a fish! Everything others say is true about this place. Enjoyed many local forest preserves to hike. Definitely would return

Wonderful
We had a great stay at the riverfront cabin on the Rock River. Loved the 3 season room and the house was so cozy. Bill was an awesome host. The personal phone call prior to our arrival to explain about the house and the area was great. We also had a bad storm come through one night and he was on the spot to help us. Not sure what we would have done without him. We would most definitely stay again.

Perfect getaway
This was the perfect getaway. The 3 seasons room was a great spot to relax, while watching the river, sipping wine, and reconnecting with old friends. Would 100% stay here again and my friends and I are already discussing coming back in the fall.

Had an amazing stay!
Cute little house in the river! We were able to bring our do with us because the house has a fully fenced back yard separating the yard from the riverbank. Bill gave us he best suggestions for going into Byron and I really felt at home there. the place has everything you need to be able to cook and stay comfortably. He is a wonderful host!

Serene Weekend
The property is well equipped, nicely furnished, and well kept. The backyard and screen room are perfect for relaxing and watching the river. The home and yard were quiet and a nice respite from the city. The owner was very friendly and approachable. We had no issues, but I have no doubt he would have been responsive if something were to arise. We would definitely stay again!

Hidden Gem
Loved this hidden gem. Was the perfect place and location for my dog and I. Loved sitting in the back enjoying the quiet and beautiful river view. Home has so many nice updates and features. Would highly recommend and will stay again. Bill called the day before and was so thoughtful and thorough explaining things with the home and also recommended things to do in the area. Thank you for such a pleasant stay.

It really is that charming!
We found everything that the other reviewers have said to be true. The property is clean, well stocked, and comfortable, and Bill is a wonderful and thorough host. The kitchen in particular has everything you could want in a guest house, but my favorite room was the sun room. The space heater made it especially cozy in the mornings while we were drinking coffee and in the afternoons while we played board games. We did hear the sounds from the trap shooting range nearby on a couple of nights, but the sound wasn't very loud, and they were done there by 9:00 p.m. both nights. It wasn't a problem at all. If you're a sensitive sleeper, you might hear some of the lower-flying planes from Rockford Airport at night. There weren't that many, though, and I think they were noticeable only because the property is so very quiet otherwise. On the nights I took allergy medication before bed, I was knocked out and didn't hear them once. :D I mention this only because I'm a lousy sleeper and I usually do not sleep well on trips at all. I hope the fact that I got as much rest as I did on this trip tells you just how peaceful Bill's guest house is. This was a great place for a leisurely vacation.

Excellent Retreat
This was our second time here. First time was in the spring and we had such a nice time, we came back to see the fall leaves. Perfect place to relax from hectic lives. Bill is a great host. Everything is clean and well maintained. Having coffee in the morning watching the river drift by and the various birds calling and flying along the river. It is an ideal retreat.
