Lovely Mordecai Home - Walk to Restaurants, Bars, and More!

This beautifully updated house is a perfect place to stay during your Raleigh visit. Relax with all of the comforts of home, hang out on the front porch swing or take a walk to parks, restaurants or downtown entertainment. A perfect get away accommodating up to a family of four, or a romantic, extra-spacious escape for just two. We are located one block from the popular special event and wedding venue in Mordecai Historic Park and St. Mark's Chapel.

The home features modern amenities including new kitchen appliances, a stackable washer and dryer and a smart TV. There is a large dining table just outside the kitchen where you can gather to eat or play games. The living room has a 48" TV with local channels as well as access to Netflix. Enjoy patio seating and a charcoal grill in the fully fenced back yard.

There is a separate rental in the back with it's own private entrance. It is possible that you may see another guest in the driveway or on the far back yard.

Fantastic Stay!!

A Must To Rent!
This bungalow style house was an absolute gem. It has hardwoods throughout, a modern kitchen with cement countertops and nice appliances, and plenty of room for 1-2 couples or a family. It is very close to downtown which made our commute to places, including the Marble Children's Museum, very convenient. Placed in a historic neighborhood, this house has character and the owner has taken out time to explain the history and renovations that they did when they acquired it. Ellen has made up a wonderful book chocked full of information of the house and area. Everything was immaculate and well furnished with supplies. The owner Ellen was responsive when we had an initial wi-fi issue (just needed rebooting) and very pleasant to talk to. I simply cannot say anything negative about this house!

Beautiful, spotless, home away from home
We really enjoyed our recent stay at the History House. Spotless and comfortable. LOVED the beautiful refinished dining room table that double as my office for our brief stay. Would rent again.

Downtown Sophistication and Charm
We were very lucky to have nabbed this picture-perfect bungalow just in time Christmas. Ellen even surprised us with a beautifully decorated and lit Christmas tree- which we were not expecting at all. From there it just got better and better. The immaculately cleaned rooms are tastefully decorated and all of the appliances are basically brand new. The kitchen is nicely appointed, if want to stay in- but there are awesome restaurants all around. Plenty of room to entertain too. Literally every comfort was met for us- good beds, good sheets and towels, an updated bathroom, WIFI and a quiet location. The heat works so well in this home, you don't even need the fireplace! We will definitely book again!

Great little House
This house has great character and is centrally located to everything. We found everything clean and orderly and kitchen had everything we needed. Wi-Fi and Netflix for your entertainment, as well as local channels. But you are not here to watch TV. Lots of games for the family to play as well. The house sleeps 4 people. We would definitely stay again.

Cute, Convenient, Amazing Location, Impeccable Property, Extremely Helpful Homeowner, Must See!
My family and I LOVED our weekend stay at this house. It was worth every penny! House is impeccably clean and well maintained. You'll love the kitchen and dinning room, we made dinner with guests and enjoyed the space. The location is extremely convenient to downtown and the surround neighborhood is very fun! We have a family of four and the house felt so much larger than the square footage would leave you believe. Can't say enough about Ellen. The home was stocked with everything we needed for our stay and she reached out us beforehand to make sure we didn't have any special requests. The information she provided about the house and its history was so interesting. Check in and check out instructions were very clear. Felt like we were so well taken care of in the comfort of a home! If you are looking for a place to stay in the area, this home is a must.

Gem!
Wonderful place to stay. This house is well appointed with beautiful furnishings, comfortable beds, beautiful bedding and high-end touches. Very convenient to downtown Raleigh and NC State University. It's in a quiet neighborhood with beautiful historical homes and right up the block is a charming area where you could food sho,p do a winetasting (free to days a week), bakeries and farm to table restaurants. If you want to beautiful outside mall, North-hills Mall is only a 10 minute car ride. The best part of this house was the host she was accommodating always available and left a very detailed guestbook with wonderful activities going on in the area and excellent food recommendations.

Lovely, immaculate home!
Beautiful, historic home in the Mordecai district. Walkable neighborhood with close restaurants, shops, bookstores and more. Perfectly situated to pop over to downtown Raleigh or NC State. Would definitely stay here again!

Great place in a Cool Neighborhood
The house was spotless and inviting for our group of three adults. After borrowing some matches from a friendly neighbor across the street, we grilled and had a lovely dinner in the back yard. The front porch swing was delightful in the mornings. Don't miss walking three blocks south to Wine Authority! We had an unexpectedly awesome wine tasting there with all delicious estate wines. Ellen was very responsive and checked in with us to make sure everything was running smoothly. Highly recommend!

It was perfect!
My family and I stayed at The Historic House for our daughter's graduation from medical school and it was ideal for the four of us. The house was open and easy for us to live in, everyone was very comfortable. The home is very well maintained and the housekeeping was immaculate. We were able to walk to most of our reservations, we had coffee every morning at the quaint Pharmacy & Cafe down the street...it was simply a lovely experience and added a sense of comfort to our celebration.

Awesome 1 month stay for young family just relocated to Raleigh!
I found Ellen's place for a new hire at my company who was relocating to Raleigh soon and needing a temporary place to live while he and his wife looked for a house. Ellen was so gracious and met with me before they got here so that I could tour the house and make sure it would work for them. She could not have been more accommodating and communicated well with both myself and the family through their entire stay. Highly recommend her place!

Perfect house, minutes from Downtown!
The house is adorable, beautifully renovated and the perfect size for up to 4 people. The house is walking distance from a few restaurants, bakeries, and bars; and just a few miles from the heart of downtown! The owner is extremely accommodating and accessible. AMAZING space so CLOSE to everything!
A very nice home, just recently remodeled. Two bedrooms, one bath, a nice kitchen with dining room (but we ate ALL meals out :) Living room is a lovely space to "visit" and relax!! Your next visit to Raleigh, this is a must STAY destination.
