In the off-season, a minimum 3-night stay is required, but if you contact me, I may consider a 2-night stay for a small additional fee.
We are a Sat-to-Sat rental in July and August.
Welcome to our family's one-of-a-kind, dog-friendly deluxe house/cottage.
Guests tell us (guest book) that our place is for the family looking for a unique, "wow, it has it all" vacation experience. They wrote that their stay "felt no different than borrowing the keys to their best friend's cottage" and that their vacation was "like being at a cottage but with all the amenities of a 5-star hotel."
Our guests are typically looking for much more than just a great-looking house. They want somewhere special to connect with their grandkids and extended or growing families or spend quality time with friends.
Whether you want to enjoy our beach, have fun in the spacious games room, unwind in our large and well-appointed house, entertain, or relax with a good book, this is the perfect spot for you and your guests to create lasting memories.
Here are just a few post-stay thank-you emails I received from 2021 to 2024:
"Hi, Greg. The family is still talking about our vacation, as It was amazing. We loved that coffee machine. Best coffee ever!" MB. Montreal, Fall 2022 & Summer 2023
"Thank you, Greg. No one will forget my grandson's sunset proposal on the dock. Our grandkids had a fantastic week!". Maria D. Windsor July 2024
"FYI, when I told our girls we are returning to your house next summer, they said, "I love it there! That is my favourite vacation home!". Alana I., California, July 2020 and back again, Aug 2023
"Your cottage is a very special place for our family, and we truly appreciate you sharing it with us. We also value the relationship we have developed with you." Duncan H. Ottawa, Summer (three-time repeat guests), June 2023
"Thanks, Greg. The whole family is excited to return, and the youngest is counting down the days on a board!" Tara M. Quebec, June 2022.
Please read our reviews on VRBO. Every guest rated us "10/10," with many calling our cottage the best place they've ever rented.
Now, let me tell you a little about our little slice of paradise in PEC:
You've found one of the rare large (five-bedroom) rental cottages in the County right on the water with a "real" beach. Not a high concrete wall with water on the other side, a small and narrow dock with only a tiny area to enter the water, or carefully angled pictures making you wonder what the beach looks like or, worse, if there are weeds.
We believe our beach is one of the best rentals in the county. Your kids and grandkids will swim for hours every day, like ours.
We are located on beautiful Sheba's Island on West Lake, facing west with breathtaking sunset views. The Sandbanks West Lake Dunes are easily reached with a 4-km bike ride.
To appreciate our fantastic location and how close you would be to Sandbanks, go to Google EARTH (not Google Maps) and enter: "Sheba's Island, Prince Edward, Ontario."
Kick back and relax on the wide dock while you watch the ducks and swans glide by. And don't worry if you're a Netflix fan – the cottage's internet reaches the end of the dock!
Our beach's shallow water entry makes it perfect for kids. Everyone will have a blast floating on inflatable islands or the large Lilly Pad mat, paddling in the canoe, or trying to balance on the paddleboard. Plus, the boathouse has beach toys for the kids to enjoy. If fishing is your thing, use our fishing rods.
Then, eat all your meals on the large covered balcony off the kitchen on the family-sized rustic dining table, which seats 12, and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. An interior dining room table also seats 12.
The primary bedroom has a balcony perfect for enjoying your morning coffee, while the patio near the water is ideal for having a BBQ lunch while keeping an eye on the kids. The third patio is perfect for playing cards, reading, or taking those dreaded Zoom work calls. If you need to work, use our printer/scanner.
Gather everyone around the extra-large fire pit at the waterfront in the evening and enjoy the flames from the historical county steel canning bucket. Afterwards, spend the night hanging out in the large games room, watching movies, playing pool, and having fun with the family.
You will love the sunny, fully equipped "chef's" kitchen overlooking the water. Our guests rave about never renting a place with everything needed to create gourmet meals. Even the many caterers who have worked at our house are impressed!
Begin your day with a perfect cup of coffee from the commercial Jura Z coffee/cappuccino/espresso machine; we even provide Lavazza beans.
The kitchen has high-end appliances, including a convection oven, an induction cooktop, and an ice-maker fridge. It also has a wide variety of cookware, such as roasting and baking pans, lobster pots, a wok, rice maker, slow cooker, pizza stone, cast iron pans, Le Creuset pans, SodaStream, a gourmet waffle maker, smoothie blender, snow cone maker, and very many other specialty items.
We also stock a wide variety of cooking and baking supplies. And, if we don't have something you need, use the "NO receipt needed" $200 petty cash envelope to purchase it in Picton.
Choose from various china for your "everyday dishes" to help you create the perfect dining experience. You will also find serving platters by local artists, table linens, cloth napkins, candles, and oil lamps to help you create special memories.
An extra-large infrared BBQ easily handles large groups, and the Big Green Egg smoker is ideal for making the perfect brisket for a family picnic on the Dunes. Our WITT gas pizza oven lets you enjoy "make your own" pizza nights.
Relax in the kitchen's comfortable chairs, browse one of the numerous cookbooks, savour local County wine (kept chilled in the wine fridge), and chat with the chef.
Four Smart TVs have 500+ channels, including movies, sports, kids' shows, and French channels. Each TV also has Netflix, and there is an extensive collection of our favourite DVDs for more screen time.
Spend the day relaxing on the large, overstuffed, goose-down-filled sofa in the upstairs living room while watching movies and drifting off to sleep. Or head downstairs to the media room, which features deep, comfy couches, a big TV with excellent sound, and a card-playing area with a wet bar and fridge.
Why not grab a book and head to the third living area to enjoy our arts and crafts, board games, and puzzles on the two couches? A giant whiteboard covers a wall where kids can draw pictures of their daily adventures. You can also plug your video game system into the TV, and if you close the privacy door, you'll never see the kids for the entire week!
An amazing family vacation should include lots of fun activities. In addition to the 3,400 sq/ft cottage, there is a large arcade games area for family tournaments, another comfortable couch for napping, and, of course, another TV for watching movies all night.
Have a blast playing the commercial tournament dart machine, shuffle alley, foosball, ping pong, commercial stainless steel topped air hockey game, pool table, the extremely fun modern Jurassic Park Premium (ranked 2nd best pinball ever made), plus the highly sought after Wizard of Oz 75th Edition pinball machine (ranked 27th), the classic Virtua Cop 2 game and finally, a MAME with 3,000 video games including all the classics like Space Invaders/Galaga/PAC Man plus the newer games.
You can also play croquet or horseshoes, let the kids go biking (bikes included), play basketball, soar on the tire swing, or bounce on the trampoline nestled among the trees next to the hammock.
There's always a visit to the large "tree condo." Let the kids eat breakfast on the balcony or hide in its two rooms. Yes, it has wifi.
If the kids still can't find anything to do at the cottage, they can walk to the County Wakeboard School for tubing, or right next door, you can rent a jet ski or a pontoon boat for a BBQ outing to the Dunes.
We're lucky to have this cottage where our kids have a blast while we take a break from Toronto with our friends. It will feel no different then if your best friends handed over the to their place!
If you are thinking of hosting a catered weekend or a small celebration, please contact me before making any bookings. We have a longstanding relationship with an exceptional chef and recognized sommelier who would happily prepare a gourmet meal with wine pairing.
Included in your rental, and this is only a very partial list:
We have two Sandbanks Park car day passes, beach towels, and all the necessary items for your trips to Sandbanks Beach. There are many supplies, such as lighters and batteries, an extensive range of kitchen supplies (including baking essentials and beans for the Jura Z ), and laundry room essentials. Plus lots of firewood, candles, oil for outdoor table lamps, bug repellent, and more. Remember, we use the cottage.
The cottage has laundry facilities as well as central AC.
Non-shedding dogs are only allowed (we have two), but you must contact us to discuss.
No smoking inside - ever.
Check-in @ 4:00 pm, Check-out @10:30 am.
