The origins of this property are humble, and the outside appearance is too, but inside we found everything we needed and more. Nothing fancy, but clean and with good attention to detail, ranging from the comfy living room to 3 bedrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. Adequate heating from the wood burner or the electric radiators. Some nice art on the wall of local sights. TV with lots of channels albeit a bit blurry. But excellent wifi/internet on top of that.
From the vrbo listing it might be difficult to judge the layout and when arriving you'll find the property is free-standing but slightly built amongst a group of houses/sheds/hedges that limit the views you might expect somehow. However, the side window in the kitchen allows a glimpse of the bay/loch around the back and there's some slopes to be seen when sitting out front on the bench or when looking back from the couch. For us, it was not a problem, since this house is also an excellent place to start your discovery of Skye: it is so well placed along roads leading to any of the known and less-known destinations. Portree is great for shopping and has a lovely port and circular walk along the coast of the loch and woods. Every hotspot is reachable within 30-60 minutes, which seems like a selling point to me!
What mattered most to us was the inside of the house, which was very good, and the contact with the owner, Flora. She was very friendly and quick to answer our few questions. Really enjoyed it! Very recommendable.
