I'm happy to offer your family and friends a welcoming antique Arts and Crafts Style Beach Bungalow in the nostalgic "Manomet Bluffs" area of Plymouth, MA. Located just 10 minutes from America's Hometown. Including Plimoth Patuxet, Mayflower II, Plymouth Rock and more. Our house is a comfortable 5 bedroom/3 bathroom (with additional outdoor shower). A year-round cottage, of course includes a seasonal sleeping porch with 4 twin beds (bedroom #5), and it’s heated. Our home can accommodate up to 16 people in beds. Our base rate is set for a family of 10 then an affordable extra guests rate is added for groups traveling with up to 16 people. Plenty of room inside and outside for all.
Often called “charming”, our Year-Round get-away beckons nostalgia for sure! If you're just needing personal respite or wanting to bring people together, you'll feel the sense of welcome. The house was designed as a Summer Hide-a-Way with throw back's to the roaring 1920's. It's a shingle style cottage, originally intended to be a showcase, and during simpler times, it really was. Back then, 'summer vacation' meant families from all around would pack up their city belongings and head on down to 'the beach'. Year after year the same place was their little piece of heaven, carved out by surf and sea. Here, we're nestled into a little corner of Cape Cod Bay on Manomet Beach and during early morning sunrises, the ocean can look like a blue-green sheet of glass straight across to Wellfleet's Great Island Peninsula. Not a photo I’ve taken has been able to captured it as the heart of the eye sees it.
Now, showing the wear of a nearing 100 year old cottage, it continues to call families back to create their own fond memories. The escape to sea-filled air, does not grow old! Treasuring the time we share to be with friends and family seem ever sweeter now a-days and the beach still works Her magic as She always has.
Back when Summer vacations started on Memorial Day Weekend and went straight through to Labor Day, summer gardens would go in all over the neighborhood. ....and here, they still do! In fact this year we’ve planted 18 fruit trees and many berry bushes!!!! Think, Cook-outs, clam bakes, lobster bakes, campfires, fishing poles, whale & seal sightings, sharing good books, singing, laughing, playing music, paddle boards, kayaks & bike rides still keep the spark of summer around here.
Now adult's, the once children who've grown up here, raise their grandchildren in the very same cottages their grandparents owned and can't imagine spending summers anywhere else! Neighbors are family and respect and smiles and stopping by the porch for a talk are the norm around here! …and you’re invited to join in ;)
...What might 'You' consider enjoying during your stay here?Plymouth's 'expected' historical offerings of course but how about, summer concerts on Plymouth's waterfront, dining on the warf, ferry ride's to the islands, whale watches or deep sea fishing, kayaking Plymouth Harbor, water taxi to Brown's Bank (tide dependent), clam shacks, farmer's markets, and more....! When was the last time you went to a drive in theater...? Wellfleet still has one! Speaking of Theatre...how about Priscilla Beach Theatre...summer kids put on shows from all the favorites...Alladin, Frozen...Mama Mia...must see ;)
Anyone who's grown up on the ocean knows you don't 'really' need an air conditioner all but a few nights out of the year. However we have 3 window units and the fan's circulate them throughout the house. Having escaped the inland heat, we grew up thrilled to have the cooler temps by the sea....yes, 10-20 degrees cooler by the shore during some of the hottest days of the year! ....and, the reverse is true, we're warmer longer into the Fall & Winter season's as well.
After Labor Day Weekend and late into the Fall Season are some of the best days of year. Just as the birds migrate south anticipating the change of season so do the families around here, …they pack it up too. Things quiet down but temps stay beach worthy.
Even in the middle of Winter! Ultimately, we all find life a little bit sweeter and settle in a little bit easier by a seaside hide-away. Nature nourishes our bodies and souls, where ever She is. Can't beat that! So, we treasure it and are really happy to share it, too! October-April we offer a 7 month Winter Rental…please inquire.
Year after year, and generation after generation, it continues. This home by the sea, still tells a fairy-tale-like story of when it was first built. Happy to welcome new families & old friends every year as they carve out 'their time' and create 'their space' to enjoy it. We still ask that you sweep through the cottage, wash & fold the laundry, pack and tidying up before... heading home, though. The cleaning Ladies come in before/after every rental to do the essential cleanings.
We're just 5 houses back from Idlewild Association stair access (4 flights of stairs w/bench seating between flights approx 150 stairs) to Manomet Beach. Manomet Beach is a private residential beach where you'll cherish long strolls at low tide, floating in the bay, sun & moon rises over Cape Cod, seals, beach combing, finally able to finish that book and find some much deserved R&R in a quiet corner, sand castle competitions, nightly campfires and family & friends beside you.
Just 10 minutes south of downtown Plymouth, local area attractions include America's Hometown Historic Plymouth sights including: Plimoth Patuxet, Mayflower II & Plymouth Rock. There's Deep Sea Fishing, Whale Watching, Harbor & Dinner Cruises, Ferry's, Golfing, Antiques, Shops, Restaurants, Biking, Hiking & More.
We're located 50 min. South of Boston and 15 min. North of the Cape Cod Canal. We're also walking distance to Manomet Center.
Ferry rides to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket & P-Town make great day trips!
Newport Cliff Walk....with all the Newport Mansions sea side.
Your contributing to the stewardship and legacy of a nearly 100 year old character-filled New England shingle styled cottage. Insuring it's preservation so that many will continue to be able to enjoy it, for generations to come. Additionally, we're looking forward to one day enclosing the stable house to create a studio space in which we can offer yoga classes, weekly meditations, & integrative whole health and life healing workshops.
Just this past year we started making our own soap, bath and body products! We continue to expand our organic garden and in 2017 extended our growing season with the construction of a green house. Thank you for choosing to spend your summer vacation with us on Manomet Beach and supporting Plymouth's Year Round Vacation Retreat House.
