Stylish and contemporary Hale Kukui OIa

Bright and beautiful, meticulously maintained, 2 bedroom plus loft, 2 bath custom home with hot tub and ocean views located in Kalapana Seaview Estates, Pahoa, Big Island Hawaii. Located just off the historic Red Road near Kehena Beach and Pohoiki, this is the perfect East Hawaii getaway. Bask on the sunny ocean view lanai, soak in the private hot tub after a day adventuring or enjoy the privacy of your gorgeous landscaped yard.

With three stories, two bedroom suites, and a bedroom loft, this home is perfect for entertaining and hosting guests or enjoying a cozy evening gazing out at the stars. The main level of the home features an open-concept living, dining and kitchen room with soaring picture windows to let in the sun and ocean views! The large lanai has both covered and uncovered areas for sun-worshipers and shade lovers alike and perfect for dining al fresco.

This home’s carbon footprint is small without sacrificing comfort or conveniences. Experience “off the grid” living with all of the amenities – we collect and 4x filter some of the greatest drinking water on earth, harness the sun to run this 1200+ sq foot property and use propane for the chef’s stove. In addition, we run medical-grade, Medify Air Purifiers 24/7, throughout the house and Ohana.

Air Conditioned Main Bedroom
Enjoy the perfect temperature with our air conditioned main bedroom and trade wind breezes through the day and night. Enjoy the best night’s sleep on the luxury mattress, a Serta Cal King ‘Vera Wang’ European pillow-top. Or catch up on your favorites shows with the room’s 40" TV.

Third floor WFH Sky Bed Loft
At the top of the apex is a bright bedroom loft – perfect for working or resting with the most glorious morning view of the ocean and luxury queen sky bed. Here’s the 1st work from home station, with 2 mounted LG monitors, adjustable sit/stand desk, docking station, and high speed, broadband wifi.

First Floor WFH Ohana Studio
The first level bedroom suite (Ohana) has a separate entry, full bathroom, living area, smart TV and another luxury queen sky bed. Here is a 2nd work from home station, complete with sit/stand desk, 27" HD monitor, docking station, more. Walk out the french doors, to a shady covered patio/workout gym.

Enjoy our clean and private hot tub with outside and walk Hale Kukui Ola’s curated Hawaiian gardens including koa, monkeypod, mango, kukui, kamani, orchids, plumeria, tropical fruits and 100 other exotic flora.

Wonderful
We enjoyed the property very much! It was clean, comfortable, and well stocked. It felt very much like the comforts of a home were considered. The location was fantastic, we were able to walk to the black sand beach easily. We are giving five stars because we think this property is beautiful and we had a comfortable stay. Things of note: The bed in the lower unit is quite soft and caused discomfort during sleep for the adult sleeping there. We did not use the hot tub because it was very heavily chlorinated, slippery to the touch. We did not use the grill because it looked like it was not going to function well, and might need to be replaced soon?

Fun and relaxing stay
Overall the stay was quite nice. The place is tucked away in a quiet part of the island very close to the ocean. We checked in late at night and initially it felt a bit eery since it was quite dark, there was no cell service and we were enveloped with the sounds of coqui frogs all around . Bu waking up the next morning to a beautiful sunrise definitely turned things around for the better. Overall, our stay at the property was very enjoyable. The upper unit is spacious and very well lit with ample outdoor seating and the amenities like the hot tub with greenery all around definitely made our stay extremely relaxing. A few things to note: 1. We did not realize the lower unit is not connected to the upper unit and lacks a kitchen or a water tap. If you have folks staying in both units you'll probably need to fill up on water before sleeping to avoid waling upstairs. 2. The bathrooms do not have an exhaust fan, so you need to keep the windows open to ensure it is well ventilated to avoid odors from sticking around. 3. The kitchen in the above unit does have a Nespresso machine but none of the pods provided worked with the machine. It would be nice if they can provide compatible pods as the nearest grocery/cafe store is a bit far our from the property. Otherwise, be sure to bring coffee with you if you need some first thing in the morning. Overall, the property was well maintained and we had an very pleasing stay!

Great home and stay!
We had an excellent stay here. Everything exactly as pictured, and it is super close to Kahena black sand beach. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck, taking a few walks around the neighborhood, and using the hot tub after a day of Big Island adventuring. Met a few locals in the area who were very nice as well and gave us more recommendations on things to see and do. Would definitely stay here again when back on the island!

Kehena House
This was a very nice and clean house. Everything is in good shape. The hot tub and outdoor shower were very nice. The yard was beautiful. The reason that we rented a house was that we needed a kitchen for cooking due to family members with food allergies. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything that we needed. There was a Nespresso machine, however, it would be nice to have a traditional coffee pot because Nespresso pods are harder to find. There were a few drawbacks. There was no cell service with Verizon. When we needed to contact the manager, the only option was using the home phone. The manager did respond right away to our initial question the first night. However, we had a question about the trash removal later during our stay that was never answered. Both inside showers have windows in them that can be seen from the road and by the neighbors. Also, while we were aware that the description of the house stated that one bedroom had a separate entrance, it was not clear that it was in no way connected to the rest of the house. We did not use that bedroom suite as we had planned as we were not comfortable leaving our children separated from us. Other renters may want to be aware that there was another vehicle in the driveway. We thought we had the wrong address because of this and also thought that someone may be inside when we arrived. We arrived at night and I had to use my phone light to see as everything was very dark. Overall, this was a very nice house and we had a nice stay!
