Our group of 6 adults enjoyed the location of the property and the layout of the house. It fit our needs for visiting both Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon from a centralized location before heading to the Grand Canyon for the remainder of the trip. The property appeared clean on the surface however, we were disappointed with several aspects of the house that the property owner needs to address. First and foremost, it was obvious that the water supply into the house contains very hard water and that the water softening system has been inoperable for an extended period of time. Showers and sinks were covered with hard water mineral deposits and all of the kitchen utensils, silverware, pots, pans, glasses were covered with the same deposits and you couldn't tell if they were clean or dirty. Pretty disgusting. The house had a water softening system but, it was empty of salt and obviously hadn't been used in quite awhile. Nothing worse than trying to enjoy a glass of wine or a bourbon and staring at dirty glass the whole time. Second, the kitchen of a house like this should have way more cooking utensils. You are a long way from stores and restaurants and cooking for a group with minimal tools was challenging, and especially since all of the tools appeared dirty due to the hard water staining. The kitchen contained only a single dish towel for cleaning up and drying dishes. Even a second one would have helped. In reality it should be equipped with three or four at the least. Third, most of the blinds in the Great Room of the house were either missing or didn't function. This is the west side of the home and the afternoon and evening sun made this room heat up tremendously, not to mention blind you while trying to enjoy the pool table or watch TV. Finally, while we understood that we couldn't use the fire pit on the back deck of the house due to the dry conditions, we shouldn't have been left with the pit full of partially burned logs and full of rain water to stare at for our entire stay. Hard to enjoy your morning coffee or a cold beverage in the evening while having to stare at a pot full of burned wood submerged in a pond of water. We could have poured it out but, didn't want to get it all over the deck surface while attempting to do it. The mess also started to attract mosquitoes by the end of our stay. It shouldn't have been left in that condition.
