Backwaters Lodge

This newly remodeled cabin sits on the back water of the Mississippi and Lake Onalaska. 200 ft of water frontage with its own dock. The cabin has one bedroom with a queen size bed ,a loft with 2 twin beds , and a queen size sofa sleeper. It is fully furnished. There are restaurants and pubs just a few minutes away. The state hiking/biking/snowmobiling trail is about 3 minutes from here. The fishing is good all year around. You can also bring your own boat and use the dock. There are 4 kayaks and a canoe available too. We also provide fishing and boat tours. (Fees for the boat and fishing tours). We just added a hatchet throwing target also. There is a $25 per visit pet fee.

Relaxing Property
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Backwaters Lodge! It was a super comfy and homey cabin. The area was so peaceful and we really enjoyed watching all the different birds and squirrels playing/eating at the bird feeder. There is so much to do/explore in the area as well!

Great place.
We stayed there for our granddaughter's confirmation and invited them over to grill out and do some fishing. The cabin was very clean and the property was everything they said in the description. Everyone enjoyed the property and amenities. My wife and I enjoyed the quietness of the cabin's location when everyone went home. Perfect accommodations.

Great place for a retreat. Lots of activities for those who want action.
It was a very nice home facing a peaceful part of the Mississippi River with lots of privacy. It is more like a home than a typical resort cabin. There was plenty of area to sit outside, with a great view of the moon. I saw canoes and kayaks, but didn't try them out. It's very close to LaCrosse where you can find anything a small city has to offer, including a co-op and hiking trails in the bluffs. I chose the area because it's in the Driftless area with bluff upon bluff, forest area with a variety of trees, and was very colorful in Oct. Now I want to explore WI more.

Serene cabin with lots of wildlife
Amazing cabin! Very comfy, cozy and well decorated! Fully stocked and we enjoyed cooking, grilling and barbecuing over open flame on the campfire! Gorgeous view right on the water, lots of birds and squirrels plus our fur babies enjoyed running around and swimming! Super nice hosts excellent communication! A home away from home we loved every minute! Thank you so much! A++++

Peaceful Property
We enjoyed our stay at Dan's place. It was perfect for me and my husband. We enjoyed drinking coffee and watching all the birds and squirrels in the morning; so peaceful.

Overall great stay!
This was a very cute, clean cabin with a ton of different amenities. Plenty of room to sit outside, games in the garage, and kayaks on site. The only reason I rated this as 4 stars instead of 5 was because we were anticipating being able to fish off the dock/let our dog swim. The water was the epitome of backwaters/swamp, which wasn’t illustrated in the description or pictures. We did see quite a few boats go by though, so if that’s something you’re interested in, this place would be great for you. Also, we were under the impression that restaurants were closer by based on them being included in the pictures. Overall though, wonderful stay and very clean/cute cabin.

The property was beyond what we expected. Very clean, comfortable and RELAXING! There are several outdoor seating areas that invited us to just sit and be and it was wonderful!

Relaxing cabin
Hate to make this so good the cabin might not be available next time I want it. It was a great stay, quiet neighborhood, easy to get around, it had all the amenities we needed. Only saw Dan once, but reassured me he would be around if we needed. Highly recommended.

Surpassed Expectations
We had a great stay. The cabin not only had everything we needed, but it was cozy and charming! We had the added bonus of watching abundant wildlife on the Mississippi river. It was a great place and the hosts were outstanding. I definitely hope to go back.
