"This property is wonderful for a quiet getaway, it’s beautifully decorated with lots of interesting things to discover and the kitchen is so well equipped, we could have easily hosted a 12 person dinner party! You definitely need a vehicle and there is no shop or pub in the village. We really liked the lack of a TV it was a plus. "We stayed here for a short break with the family. We were greeted with a lovely welcome pack from the owners and was really impressed with the lodge. Its location was perfect for places to visit, we went to Bamburgh castle, Berwick, Alnwick gardens and Holy Island in the time we stayed. The accommodation was spacious, clean and warm on arrival, with the log burner as a welcome extra. We would definitely recommend for a family getaway and would stay again in the future."

"We stayed here as part of birthday celebrations for a big Roman history fan. It felt so special to stay right next to Vindolanda and to know that the Trust benefitted from our stay. The cottage is gorgeous, well stocked with some very kind welcome snacks and plenty of useful amenities. All the rooms are comfortable and the nearby pub is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend to anyone thinking about booking."

"Came up for the Kielder Marathon weekend. Cosy cottage which had everything we needed. Comfy bed, powerful hot shower and good kitchen facilities. "

"Excellent cottage in great location, very close to town but quietly tucked away. Everything you need for a stay, all fixtures and fittings of good quality. Only minor niggle is limited windows that open and shower was very slow to drain otherwise highly recommended."

"Lovely cottage but could have been a bit cleaner (had to wash mugs and plates before use and floor wasn't too clean). Lovely big comfy bed with fresh linen. Shower head would not stay up so had to be held all the time. No outside table and chairs. No towels but property manager brought them within 20 minutes of phoning. Not allowed to walk dogs on site but nowhere else to take them as no paths at side of road. Lovely setting though."

"Lovely small house which was perfect for us , en suites were great , beds really comfortable , kitchen was fully equipped , comfy sofas and only 10 minutes walk to the beach . Heating was set so the house was lovely and warm on arrival , great as it was icy outside . One small twist was the size of the tv , not small but not what most people are used to but not the end of the world ."

"The property was excellent and near the harbour so in easy reach of everything. With really nice pubs, restaurants and takeaways we were spoilt for choice for food. Bonus was the kippers at the other end of the road. Will definitely look to stay at the property again. Loved the property, situation and the surrounding area."
