The location and amenities of this property are great. Bosch and Samsung appliances, nicely stocked for basic cooking and living. Walking proximity to most NOLA attractions (Bourbon street, Canal street, Jackson Square, Casino, etc). However, in the summer months in NOLA it is common to have a daily sun shower or two. And during our stay rain occurred daily. And with that rain came a leaking ceiling (appeared to be a timely hole that the water was coming from) which sprayed all over the floor and side of the bed in the primary bedroom. Thank goodness for the washer and dryer otherwise towel use would have been severely limited. Notified owner/manager and was told maintenance would be notified. Response was very quick from management. However, maintenance never came. There is also an uneven distribution of the AC in the unit. While the unit has a Nest thermostat which automatically adjust to your heating/cooling preferences, the second bedroom gets VERY cold meanwhile the primary bedroom runs warm. There appeared to be no air coming from the vents in the primary when the unit was running and it has large windows. Easy fix was to keep the drapes closed, run the ceiling fan and keep the door open, but if you want some privacy and run hot this could be an issue. Especially if you don’t want to freeze the 2nd bedroom. The wall hook also fell off the wall randomly while not in use. This provided a minor inconvenience and is an easy fix — find a stud or reinforce the drywall screws. You may also encounter some condensation around the ceiling vents which could also cause you to think there is a leak. This was not an unusual occurrence in high humidity however there is obvious wear around the ceiling vents that should probably be addressed.
Despite the high traffic/busy location, the unit/building was very quiet (brick walls) and requires a key code to enter the gated entrance. There is an elevator although you do still need to climb a short stairwell once on the floor to access the unit.
The unit was clean but did need to be swept as due to minor debris on the floor. We did find 2 dead locust bugs but it is NOLA — you should expect to see these critter even in the most cleanest of places. Bug control measures have been ensued.
The unit has been renovated beautifully and outfitted comfortably & provides a great location in NOLA. With some minor tweaks to address the aforementioned issues, it can definitely be a five star stay.
