Above the Law

Luxury apartment above a former law office.
Located in the heart of Historic Downtown Natchez.
Off street parking, huge landscaped courtyard.
Front and rear balconies
Building is an 1870’s commercial building.
Fully equipped kitchen.
Formal dining room
Living room with balcony over Franklin Street.
Beautifully furnished, with premium towels and bedding.
2 full en-suite bathrooms with tubs with showers.

About 2,000 sqft.

Check in, if before 5 p.m. (Mon-Sat), is next door at my Antique Shop - Lower Lodge Antiques 712 Franklin Street.
Our guests have access to a private “members only” pool in downtown Natchez. Pool open Labor Day to Memorial Day. Pool about 7 blocks from apartment - short drive or an easy walk.

After 5 p.m. and on Sundays we normally use a lock box for check ins. While we do not charge a separate cleaning fee with booking, for long-term stays maid service can be arranged on request (additional fees may apply).

Christmas Season in Natchez
Property is very convenient and walkable to all of downtown Natchez. The interior of the apartment was exactly as pictured. Artwork and antiques everywhere. Kitchen was well stocked with cookware and appliances. The only issue we encountered with the property was the lack of ice or a functioning icemaker in the refridgerator. Overall, if we were to revisit Natchez we would choose to stay at “Above the Law” again.

Over the Anitques
Over the Law is the perfect place to sample the Old South and Natchez. It is an antique-filled apartment above an antiques store. The wide porch offers space to relax and view the city. The kitchen was well stocked and inviting, and the furnishings were memorable.

Best friend getaway with my teenage son as a tagalong. Had a wonderful time! Apartment exactly as described. beautiful antiques, comfortable beds and very clean. Stayed her last year and had to come back. Highly recommend!

Cool house in great location!
This is a cool, old apartment above a business. It is decorated in many period pieces. It was very clean and well appointed in the kitchen and the owner is very friendly and helpful. There was written information about the town and nearby areas in the house and the owner was available by telephone for anything we needed. The outside areas were also great--a large deck out front and a courtyard in the back with tables and chairs. Overall, an outstanding stay.

Great Place to Stay!
I can't say enough about this wonderful location and the hospitality of Richard and Jill. The apartment was beautiful with everything you could possibly need at your fingertips. The beds were very comfortable...made for a good night's sleep. There was great outdoor space, too, including a big balcony with lots of rocking chairs and a beautiful courtyard with several tables. There was also good parking space in a parking lot next door. The location was perfect, too, with easy walking distance to anywhere downtown. The big test for us always is 'would we stay there again' and the answer in this case is a resounding YES!

Friends Trip to Natchez
The apartment was a beautiful place to spend our visit to Natchez. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We especially loved being able to wind down the day in the rocking chairs on the balcony. The hosts were very friendly and attentive to our needs. It was a wonderful visit. Thank you.

Weekend trip to Natchez
Loved the space, water, snacks, and wine! We did not need anything. Everything was there that was needed including coffee, soap, toothpaste and nice towels. It was nice to see all the decor in the home. The balconies and rocking chairs were fabulous! Great location with parking close to everything.

Girls Trip
The property was perfect for what we needed. First time visit to Natchez so close to all the sights we were going to see. Several great restaurants within walking distance. Richard was a great host. Responded very quickly to any question. The place was very clean and well stocked with lots of extras. The a/c worked great. The only disadvantage was the stairs for 3 older women carrying luggage but we managed. Would stay there again.

Relaxing Getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The courtyard is beautiful and a wonderful place to relax at the end of the day. Antebellum homes and amazing restaurants were close by. The host could not have been more accommodating and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Super Clean Unit
This was a 3 night girl’s trip to Natchez for the first time to visit the city’s Christmas pilgrimage tour of antebellum homes. We stayed in the “Above the Law” unit. Below is my take on the pros/con of the rental. Pros First of all the unit is immaculate. I’ve never stay in a rental that is as clean as Richard’s place. Richard goes the extra mile and also provides his guest with a bottle of wine, coffee, tea and snacks. Bed linens and towels in the unit are luxurious. Richard only has top of the line kitchen appliances with a fully stocked kitchen (although we did not cook) it would be anyone’s dream kitchen. Richard’s place is like living in a walking museum of history from the 1700s-2000s. Beautiful antiques with comfortable beds in both bedrooms. The location is walkable to downtown shops. Richard lives next door so he is available to address any questions for the area. Cons “Above the Law” is an upstairs unit so you will need to carry your luggage up the stairs. I only list this as a con should someone have mobility issues.The second issue although this cannot be controlled by the owner there is a recently opened nightclub across the street that appeared to be a little sketchy and being 2 older ladies we did not feel comfortable arriving in the parking lot after dark. With that being said parking is reserved for guest outside a brick courtyard with a locked gate you enter to gain access to the unit. Weekend traffic can be a somewhat noisy for light sleepers.

Our New Favorite Place to Stay in Natchez
It was our annual trip to Natchez to see the Angels on The Bluff. There were four of us that stayed Above the Law and we simply LOVED it! It is so centrally located that we didn't need to drive to too many places. We walked everywhere! The accommodations were spic and span clean and the beds were SO comfy! Shower pressure was strong as well. No need to take sheets and comforters as these were perfect. Most of all the host is such a lovely person to visit with! We will certainly be staying here again. Loved it!
