The scenery was lovely but Vacasa’s service was poor and the home’s amenities were lacking
I booked through VRBO and Vacasa served as the property manager. Numerous things were wrong with this property. The master bed was stiff as the floor—I only slept on it 2 out of 5 nights. The other 3 nights I slept on the couch. The pillows were thin, misshapen, and all around terrible. Spiders and bugs were everywhere. They were stingy with toilet paper—so much so that I had to use silverfish-infested toilet paper when we ran out late at night the day before we checked out. Disgusting. The kitchen pantry reeked of mothballs; every time we opened the pantry door to access the trash or recycling we held our breath.
But the worst was that we had no hot water for 3 days—2 full days after notifying Vacasa! The day we arrived, the water was warm so we thought the water heater temperature was turned too low. By the second day, all water was cold. I contacted Vacasa that afternoon. For 2 days, despite following up 4 times to the local number AND the chat on the main website, no one showed up to check the hot water heater. 36 hours before we left, someone from Vacasa finally reached out and had the local caretaker call us. He came out to the house shortly after calling and reset the hot water heater. The person from Vacasa who contacted us twice texted that Vacasa would make it right and compensate us for the issue. Not surprisingly, they’ve dropped the ball and gone dark again. Beware if you end up with a Vacasa rental—they do not take good care of their guests.
