Family friendly Michiana Shores Beach Home! Close to Beach, Playground and Pizza

Our home is an 0.8 mile walk to the beautiful beaches of Lake Michigan, stop 37. Enjoy the seclusion and privacy in Michiana Shores. There is plenty of hiking nearby with plenty of wildlife to see. We have a shed with beach chairs, toys and a few childrens bicycles.

The house has 7 beds:

Bedroom 1: 1 queen bed
Bedroom 2: 1 queen bed
Bedroom 3: 1 queen bed
Bedroom 4: 2 bunk beds (4 total beds) - 2 twins and 2 fulls

There are 2 bathrooms:
Bathroom 1: Upper level bathroom with a shower/bathtub combo
Bathroom 2: Lower level bathroom with a shower

We have a shed in the backyard with a beach wagon, beach chairs and beach toys. Our home is kid friendly with toys in the basement and beach toys in the shed, two fisher price booster high chairs and floaties.

There is a great playground and tennis court a short walk away. Stop 50 Pizza is a block and a half away.

Great aTime at Michigan Shores
This place totally fit our needs. We were a group of four adults and six young children. The home was clean, the park was nearby and the Michigan Lake Beach not far.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS FILTHY UNSAFE PROPERTY
Our stay at this "family friendly" house was anything but. The house, both inside and outside, is FILTHY. We had to wash all linens and shower curtains before they were usable. There is mold and mildew growing in both the inside and outside the home. All of the home's fire detectors are detached from the wall and in a drawer in the kitchen. There are barely any utensils or cups and the knives are either completely broken or unusable. Curtain rods are ripped from the wall. The dryer's handle is actually a broken hanger top. The couch is DISGUSTING. It has stains all over it and is ripped apart. Half the furniture is broken. The railing on the outside deck is completely unattached and unsafe. The items in the shed are rusted and only about 1/10 of what's pictured. The pictures on this site are not accurate. It's a completely different kitchen. The host did not respond to a single communication. We were only in town for three days. We checked in at 4pm and had to leave by 430 for an event. We didn't get back to the rental until 1130 and so didn't even have a chance to really check out the property until next day. We messaged the host that day, but he never responded. We followed up with VRBO who said they would follow up with the owner and then said they reached him and he would reach out to us. He never did. By then, our rental period had ended, and VRBO is now saying that they have no recourse because it's post stay. Don't use this rental. It was AWFUL

2nd year of staying here and not a good experience
My large family and I stayed here two years in a row. Hoping things would have changed and be updated. A/C doesn’t work very well can’t keep up in warm weather. Pictures aren’t accurate. Kitchen chairs broken. Coffee table literally fell to the floor broken. Couch so far broken down can barely sit on. Furniture needs updated for high price of the stay. Place needs some attention and a really good deep clean. For the price of cleaning fee the place Isnt CLEAN. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Communication sucks as well. Hated to leave this review but for the cost I want others to be aware.

House needs a lot of care, inside and out
This house gave 7 adults and 2 children places to sleep. It was less than a mile from the Lake Michigan shore. But I’m sorry there isn’t much more positive to point out. The stay began as we were making our first evening’s meal. We knew there was a gas grill and that we’d need to get propane, which I did. But the grill is ancient and rusted almost entirely through. The igniter would not work, so I had to light it with matches. Some things were just annoying, but others were just not safe. Annoying were that there was only one spoon, no blankets, burned out light bulbs, no kitchen towels, the coffee filters were the wrong type, and not enough toilet paper. The furniture in the bedrooms was good, but everything else was old and shabby. There was a burn hole in the downstairs sectional. As a family, we like to play games. We couldn’t do it at all because there were only 5 chairs, and 3 of them were broken. The coffee table was broken and couldn’t be used. We couldn’t all fit on the couch, so we had to bring in plastic Adirondack chairs from outside. There were no smoke detectors mounted in the house. We found them stuffed into a drawer in the kitchen. That’s just not safe. We also had the downstairs toilet clog, which set off a piercing flood alarm that wouldn’t turn off until I cut a cord (at the owner’s direction on the phone). There was standing water in laundry room, and the downstairs shower leaked. I would have said more but only given 1500 characters.

My first experience with any home rental company. Didn't get a lot of direction from owner and didn't get access information until minutes before check in time. Home was clean enough, but furniture was old with coffee table quite wobbly and one kitchen chair actually broke under someone sitting on it. Also, constant chirping of what sounded like a dying smoke detector battery, but we couldn't locate it. No checklist of what we were responsible for at checkout, such as garbage, bedding, etc.

Great Experience
Just as advertised. Kids loved the lower level and the adults loved it as well. Walking distance to a good pizza place and centrally located for Chicago and St. Joseph. Would stay again.

Disappointing
When we arrived, the house was not clean. There was sand everywhere (in the couches, the beds, etc.). The shower curtain had black mold and mildew on it. The refrigerator did not work, and we had to store all of the food we bought in the freezer to keep it from spoiling. *note: we later unplugged the refrigerator and plugged it back in, and it worked… slightly. The house doesn’t cool well at all. Maybe that’s because there are no window coverings on the windows in the kitchen or living room; allowing sun to beat in all day. The deck is about to fall apart; such that we only allowed one child to go down the stairs at a time. We messaged the owner on the first day about the fridge and a lack of cleanliness… he never responded. I would not recommend this property.

House Rental
The house was exactly as described. Parking at the home was limited. Parking at the Beach, Stop 37, only 15min time limit. Beach area extremely small and limited for a large family to enjoy. Pets were allowed, BUT ONLY at certain times of the day on the beach. Disappointing. Items for use in the Shed were mostly broken and not useable. Games provided were disassembled, and missing pieces. Felt misled,in certan aspects of this rental.

Nice home
Home was nice! And always love the area. I’d say it could have definitely been cleaner and could use some updates to the furniture- the upstairs couch in particular. Not the most comfortable. We cleaned everything before we used it- like plates and cups, the cooler we scrubbed for quite a while to ensure it was clean. But overall, we wanted for nothing- had everything we needed, plenty of space, in a nice location! We would stay again.

Checking in to this property was easy and simple. the property manager was available if and when needed. House was very nice and spacious. There is more than enough room if you are looking to stay here with your family. Neighbors were also very polite. Only thing is the pictures have not been updated and the outside does look different without all the trees but besides that, everything else was up to standards and overall a great home.

Nice vacation destination
We had a lot of relaxation and fun. The neighborhood is quiet and feels safe. It is close to the lake but not so close you have to worry about little ones escaping into the water. The children enjoyed the beaches, zoo, and playground. It is a nice location for family time.

Disappointing & MISLEADING.
NOT RECOMMENDED! The check in was super easy. The neighborhood is lovely. But the property was a huge let down. We arrived to broken furniture, stained sofa, ants in the kitchen, earwigs & crickets in the basement, dirty dishes in the cupboards, a large hole in a bedroom door, a broken transition strip with a nail sticking up and mold in the ice/ water dispenser on the fridge. Thos plan ewas disgusting. After many unsuccessful attempts to reach the owner, we contacted vrbo customer service. When we finally got connected with the owner, he admitted that sounded awful and agreed to give us "some kind of compensation for the trouble." 36 hours later, he is once again not responding. **updated: the compensation was waiving the minimal cleaning fee. I contacted the owner to express our frustration with the misrepresentation of the property and asked for a better refund due to such uncleanliness. He is once again ignoring our messages. This property should never be rented at the cost we paid. Beware! I would definitely NOT recommend this property. The way we've been treated and the false advertising of this property are hugely disappointing!

Great place for your family with kids. Enjoy picking blueberry farm, beside Lake Michigan beaches. The food at the pizzeria around the corner was delicious. There so many activities here. There the Zoo or go fishing.
