ACCOMMODATIONS:
Unit 8a is a fully furnished studio/efficiency. The unit has a queen size bed, a 3-seat leather couch, a small dining table with two chairs. Fully equipped Kitchen, all dishes, pots and pans, towels and linens are provided (not Beach/Pool towels). It has a private bathroom (toilet, sink and tub with shower). A quiet Mini-Split AC will keep you cool at all times. Smart TV and 1000 Mbit WiFi. The studio has a front porch with two chairs and a small table. It has a small front yard with tropical plants and has its own gas-BBQ grill and picnic table with a large umbrella for shade.
No daily housekeeping. Housekeeper will clean after the end of your stay.
YARD:
Tropical yard with native plants including: Pineapples, Sea Grape, Exora, Bougainville, Croton, Hibiscus and an abundance of Coconut palms allowing for relative privacy. An assortment of butterflies and birds including tiny humming birds frequently visit our yard.
BOATING:
Optional dock is available in our protected marina lagoon for boats up to 25 foot (additional dock fee of $25/day to home owners association). Proof of insurance, boat and trailer registration must be provided and approved before the boat can enter the park of the marina.
FISHING:
Our efficiencies are located ideally for fishing in the Florida Keys. Grassy Key has quick and easy access to fishing both on the Atlantic and the Bay side (the bridge for bay side access is 1/2 mile away). You can fish by boat on the flats a couple hundred yards from our dock for Bonefish, Tarpon and small Sharks. Shallow reefs only a mile or two away offer Yellowtail, Mangrove snapper, and Mackerel in abundance. The Gulf Stream offers Dolphin, Wahoo, Tuna, Sailfish, you name it. This is a boating and fisherman’s paradise
Lobster can be found under rocks and ledges on both the Atlantic as well as the Bay side (during season).
Fishing from the Jetty is a lot of fun. There are small sharks, Tarpon, various Snappers and Grunt.
KAYAKING:
Our marina provides easy access to shallow water bordered by mangroves, and some small mangrove islands less than a mile from the marina. This is a great area to Kayak, you frequently see small baby sharks, tarpon, rays and a variety of tropical fish and birds. Duck Key Island is about 2 miles from our dock.
Kayaks can be rented at marina located directly across the street.
BIKING:
Grassy key has some quiet streets suitable for biking. Bikes can be rented at the marina located directly across the street.
SNORKELING :
Snorkeling is fantastic at numerous nearby reefs and state marine parks (Coffin Patch Reef, Sombrero Reef). Several Snorkel-Boats leave Duck-Key and Marathon for daily trips to the nearby reef.
POOL :
A shared community pool is available to you, it is located a minute or two walking distance within our park grounds.
LAUNDRY :
A community coin laundry facility is located a minute or two walking distance within our park grounds.
TIKI-HUT:
Great place to meet the locals and other visitors. Enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine during informal "happy-hour"
JETTY:
Within our park, there is a jetty stretching a few hundred yards out into the ocean, great for star gazing at night, sunbathing during the day or fishing day or night.
WiFi:
WiFi is available (and it is free)
