Beachfront Cabin on Straits of Mackinac

Our home is located right on the Straits of Mackinac. With scenic views of Mackinac Island, the Mackinac Bridge and the freighters passing, it is the most relaxing getaway. We are located just over a mile away from one of the ferry lines that take you to Mackinac Island and walking distance from the Lumber Jack show. We are right on the water so you have your own beach. The house also come with free access to a local waterpark and discounts to local restaurants.

Everything in the cottage feels about 40 years old, and very low quality. Cheap blinds do not block out light, no hand towels or washcloths in kitchen, powder room is right off kitchen with a door that won't close because the washing machine is too big so if someone is in the kitchen you have zero privacy in the bathroom. Dirty old couch and throw pilliws, filthy, broken outdoor chairs etc. I message the owner asking where I might find some kitchen towels or paper towel.She responded by leaving 1 roll of the cheapest paper towel on the dirty floor of the garage for me.

Great potential, but needs work

Location is very good and the view was amazing, but the floors were very dirty. Our socks got black just walking around the house. When we arrived we had to walk through the garage to access the home. There were a lot of garbage bags in the garage and coupled with the heat of the day it smelled awful. It would be nice to keep garbage away from the only entry point to the home. The bathroom door to the half bath does not close because of the washing machine. The vanity in the full bath has a broken mirror and the lights do not work. The beds were decently comfortable but my kids found black hairs in theirs under the blankets. The chairs for the two dining tables were covered in stains and looked dusty. We also noticed ants coming from the wall behind the sink while we were washing dishes. The screened porch has poorly fitting screens which allow bugs to enter the home. There is a tree/bush growing directly next to the steps on the back screened porch, which makes it difficult to enter and exit the area. We did not have a lot of trouble, but for older guests this could be a problem. This property could easily be a 4 or 5 star location. It just needs some touchups and attention to detail.

Great location if youā€™re not picky about details

Beautiful location on the water but the cabin needs a lot of updating. The outside light as well as the garage light were both burnt out, making our checking in after dark tricky. The kitchen had minimal supplies (no oven mitts), the stove is very old and outdated (the text on the knobs is even worn away), and the refrigerator did not keep things cold. You couldnā€™t close the door to the half bath, the washing machine was in the way. The tv signal was in and out regularly. The slider doors on the porch (to exit to the backyard) were difficult to slide. And overall cleanliness was not 100% (some dusty surfaces). If youā€™re only sleeping there, not huge issues, but we wouldnā€™t choose to stay here again.

Birthday weekend trip

After reading the reviews I was a little worried on booking, but I was like hey everyone has a different experience. The house was very clean! Our favorite view was from the backyard/sunroom. Nothing beats that beautiful view! The only thing bad that I have to say is if you like a little night pizza to snack on bring your own pizza cutter! But otherwise our stay was wonderful. The host communicated back with us in a timely manner. I would definitely stay at this location again.

House was very clean and the view is absolutely breathtaking. The only problem was not hearing back from our host. I had sent her a message a week before asking if there was a coffee pot or Keurig to bring pods but never got a reply. After arriving we tried our absolute best to get the WiFi but it would not connect. I sent her another email with no reply the entire 4 days we were there

SPECTACULAR LOCATION ! ! !

We loved our stay here ! Your backyard is Lake Huron ! 40' away from the back door. View also includes Mackinac Island and you're just a short drive from Mackinaw City and Lake Michigan. House is very well kept.

Would not recommend. Poorly kept property. VERY strong natural gas odor. Neglected!!!!

No communication from host. Reached out 4 times before Jodi responded. Overpriced-bath door doesnā€™t close, no fans, urine odor, broken screens, broken outside furniture, hole in flooring, hole in walls, no ceiling fans in common area, furniture is dilapidated. Grass is overgrown and so many bugs as a result. Wastebasket in kitchen instead of trash can. Could go on and on. Donā€™t recommend!

Not a good place and not a good place to stay.

No air conditioning on property. Property is in bad shape and in need of repair. No front doors, had to walk in from garage door inside that was unlocked. Place smelled like bug killer. We messaged host about no air conditioning and no response. We then chose not to stay at property and ask host to refund. They have never responded. We stayed at a hotel instead. First bad experience I have had.

Outstanding view. The rest not great.

No hot water, natural gas leak, gas was shut off, mosquitoes in house, goose crap everywhere, can't open windows, can't shut bathroom door, grass was uncut, weeds everywhere, mosquitoes outside, could not be outside at all. Tv did not work, no internet, no wifi. Almost impossible to contact owner.

A night stay..

Curb appeal, the house needs work. Inside the garage has a gas smell that is very strong in the morning. The windows all need to be updated. Only 4 windows open in the home and on a hot humid day, the house is unbareable as there isnt any air conditioning. Only fans in the home are the 2 ceiling fans in the bedrooms. Also, the stove needs a good cleaning and the dryer door doesnt shut. Overall, can see they have done some updates in the home just needs quite bit more. The neighborhood is peaceful and the view of the bridge and lake huron is beautiful.

Run down house

Property was all grown up on the outside hadn't been mown in atleast a month,and the beach had a dead tree laying on it and covered in tall weeds , and when we called the property manager she was absolutely rude and hung up on us the first time we called, i have pictures if anyone wants to see them , wouldn't recommend anyone to stay there,and didnt get any money back

The house was clean and very close to the ferry pick up point ! Jodi was kind and helpful if we had questions . Beach is right on the backyard with beautiful views from the porch. you have free access to the bridge vista beach too ! Thatā€™s an added plus when you stay here . I would stay here again !
