Originally I had reserved a new modern hotel property 6 miles from Universal Studios. I decided that I wanted something closer. The super cute El Royale popped up with its great reviews. The 1.1 mile walk, dining locations, shopping was another draw for me. So I switched my reservation to El Royale.
My college age son and I arrived really early (10 AM) on Saturday morning so we couldn't check in yet. Mr. Javier greeted us warmly Ave have us lots of tips for our stay. We decided to walk to Universal City Walk following the easy map Javier gave us. It was a nice walk after a long flight, and we could plan our USH park day. We ate lunch, visited shops, then walked back to the hotel. We checked in--the room was clean, simple, roomy. We were very happy. The bed was super comfy (like all the other reviews said!) and the towels were fluffy and clean. That evening we walked and got fabulous pizza at Lucifer's Pizza (take a right from El Royale). My son forgot to bring a sweatshirt so we waited to Marshall's a couple blocks away.
The next morning we uber'd to USH for $9. We took a midday break and walked back, then uber'd back to USH for dinner and rides again.
Our final day was spent at walk of fame and a Lakers game. The El Royale and staff were so great and helpful. The hotel is so cute--very retro 1950's I Love Lucy vibe. The area was so close to a Walgreens, Starbucks, Ralph's/Kroger, What A Peach (yummy smoothies), In and Out Burger.
I will definitely book here again!
