What a haven! We wanted to find a place for some peaceful time away from it all and found it at the Lovers Lane Oasis Cottage! The information we received before our stay was spot on to help us pre-plan, and the location was far enough away to be peaceful and close enough to everything to be convenient, and of course we can't say enough about the beautiful cottage and beaches of Long Beach. The cottage even furnished lawn chairs and beach towels along with a cooler and ice packs if needed. We enjoy getting out to areas that aren't crowded, and along with the beach found the Sandhill Crane Refuge information provided at the cottage helpful, which we found and thoroughly enjoyed as they gave us tips on where else to look for cranes. That said, we also found some unexpected treasures in the Grand Bay Refuge near Moss Point, the Gulf Island National Seashore visitor center in the Davis Bayou area near Ocean Springs. From the visitor center, we received additional information to add to what Harold had shared about visiting Ship Island, and the ranger at the visitor center was the same ranger leading the tour of the fort on Ship Island that we enjoyed seeing the next day. The boat ride out was amazing, and we felt prepared for Ship Island's seclusion and enjoyed the connection of the fort to the Chalmette Battleground we got to visit on our way to Long Beach from New Orleans! We also got to see the PT boat that was brought in to Bay St. Louis from the WWII Museum, for the weekend, another amazing place we'd gotten to visit before leaving New Orleans. This was all rounded out with great food from the Rusty Pelican, Harbor View Cafe, Stevie's and Darwell's all of which were in or near Long Beach and the cottage . We found some other place as well, but also just enjoyed coming back to the cottage during the afternoon heat, to relax and watch movies, and then going out again to the beach or sitting and listening to the night sounds on the screened-in porch when it cooled off again. We would definitely recommend this place to others and of course would love to come back and stay again!
