ABOUT THE SPACE

Whether you want to "stay-in" for your entire vacation time and enjoy the hot tub, the nearby private lake, beach, river access for tubing, waterfall & picnic tables and shelters; or explore the area for hiking, sightseeing, cool little mountain towns and many other options - this is the place!

Enjoy the covered front porch with your morning coffee in one of our rockers, or sit out back in a lounger at sunset filtering through the trees on the brand new deck. Whimsical lighting surrounds the exterior for outdoor night time enjoyment, and for arriving at night (or after a late dinner) you'll find the house number signs illuminated as well as your path up to the front or back door - so everything is easy to find!

For the ultimate relaxing experience, take a soak in our hot tub (perfect for 2!) while you watch the sun set over the backyard firepit and the mountains in the distance! The hot tub is sheltered from the rain so you can enjoy it regardless of the weather!

On the main floor, the front door and the back door to the deck are opposite each other and both have screen doors; these are great to leave open and feel the mountain breezes come through the cabin. The vaulted ceilings give the space a roomy feel & there is plenty of lighting throughout.

The interior has been updated to feel more modern and bright but still feel like a cozy cabin hideaway in the woods. Reading lights for each bedroom are adjustable for color temperature to your liking, as well as the corner lights in the living area. 4K TVs in the living room and master bedroom too! Settle in to stream a movie on the comfy couch for the night, or sit outside and watch the fireflies in the quiet of the woods.

And last but not least, Riverbend Retreat is pet friendly! Our dog (Rocket) has provided some of his favorite toys and treats to share. There is a dog bed and mat for food bowls if you need it, a PFD for a medium size dog, and a towel for drying off at the river or swimming hole.

GUEST ACCESS

For initial access to the neighborhood, you'll need to obtain your visitor pass from the main gatehouse. If you arrive after 5:00pm and the gate is not staffed, you'll need to enter a code on the keypad for us to "buzz" you in. Once you arrive at the cabin, you'll be able to use the provided key cards if you need to leave and re-enter the community.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

If you need to work while you're here, we've got you covered - the internet is fast and reliable! We work remotely from the cabin often and the speed and latency is perfectly sufficient for video conference calls. If you're using your own mobile device, T-mobile and AT&T work well here but Verizon is not nearly as good.

We are committed to showing you an excellent vacation experience, and make every effort to provide to you a very clean cabin upon arrival. We only partner with the very best housekeepers in the area so you can rest assured you will be staying in a clean home.

Early check-in and/or late check out requests may be able to be accommodated for an extra fee.

***Damage protection - You can rest easy knowing that your stay at Riverbend Retreat at Lake Lure is covered with $5,000 in "All-Risk" Damage Protection through Waivo. Although rare, accidental damage from guests does happen. Traditionally, this was managed via a security deposit or vacation rental damage insurance purchased by the guest. Both are cumbersome and often have big limitations in protection.

A portion of the charge listed as a "management fee" on your quote covers your purchase of this damage protection, so you can relax and enjoy your stay! Please see the Damage Waiver Agreement provided after booking for more details.

****Location: To access the private lake, beach, river and waterfall, you'll need to drive approximately 3/4 mi to reach these amenities.

Security cameras: There are two outside cameras used for security purposes only. One on the front porch with a view of the street, and another on the deck with a view of the driveway.

HOUSE RULES:

* We are pet friendly (prior approval required). If you are bringing your fur animals along with you, please bring a crate and bedding. PLEASE DO NOT USE our bed linens or bath towels for your pets or allow them on the beds/furniture (we've provided a few pet towels and blankets for you). We allow up to 3 house-broken pets (dogs). There is a non-refundable pet fee due at the time of guest booking, not to exceed 3 pets. Guests assume all cleaning fees necessary if rules are violated. Thank you for helping make this a pet-friendly retreat for you and all our future guests!

* No smoking or vaping inside the cabin or on/around the porch, stairs, or decks. Thank you for helping us maintain a smoke-free environment. Guests assume all cleaning fees necessary if rules are violated.

* ALL guests entering the home at anytime MUST be included on the reservation. No unregistered guests or visitors allowed. The maximum property capacity is 8 people.

*Illicit/illegal substances and/or activities are not allowed on the property.

*Fireworks and open fires (ones that are not in a provided fire pit) are not allowed anywhere in the community.

* Lost key fobs for the community gate will incur a $50 fee

* Prior to check-in we'll need to inform the main gate staff of your arrival, so we will be requesting from you your contact info & vehicle information to inform them. Please note we will need this info in order to have them allow you through the gate at check-in, thank you!

* We ask that you be considerate and respectful of our cabin. For example, please do not leave the cabin in a state that requires excessive cleaning; please put trash in designated receptacles; if you cause any damage please let us know as quickly as possible. It is often much easier and cost-effective to address things sooner rather than waiting to inform us after check-out. Guests assume all cleaning/damage fees necessary if rules are violated.

* HOT TUB: Please respect the rules and regulations regarding the hot tub and treat it as if it were your own. If you do not agree to these terms and conditions, please do not enter the hot tub. These policies are in place because it is very time consuming and expensive to drain and refill a tub in between stays and only needs to be done if the hot tub is abused. The hot tub portion of this rental agreement is very specific for safety reasons and in order to help prevent any additional charges to your card.

The hot tub is clean and clear when you arrive and it should be clean and clear when you leave. Should any guest contaminate the water with any foreign substance by not abiding by the rules, guest agrees to an additional charge of $250 to cover the cost to drain, clean and refill the hot tub.

Please ALWAYS shower before getting in the hot tub as lotions, body oils, shampoos and self-tanners will make the water cloudy requiring a drain and refill upon your departure at a cost of $250 to your credit card. The hot tub filter and chlorine will not filter out urine, beer, food, mud, dirt and soda etc. and if such things enter the water, it will need to be drained and refilled upon your departure which will result in a $250 charge on your card, NO EXCEPTIONS. Please treat the hot tub as you would your own and there should be no additional charges upon check out. Children under 12 should never enter the hot tub. Use the hot tub at your own risk, owner assumes no liability for optional use of hot tub or for any allergic reaction to chemicals. Spa chemicals can cause skin irritations. No jumping or diving in the hot tub and do not leave anyone unattended.


** We are open to elopements / small wedding ceremonies during your stay, with prior approval. (Primary purpose of your stay is for lodging; no big weddings or parties allowed). If an elopement / small wedding ceremony is permitted by prior arrangement with us, a separate Agreement with associated fees, terms and conditions will be provided. Absent prior agreement with us, hosting of any type of wedding event (including, but not limited to, a ceremony, a reception, a dinner gathering, a lunch) will result in Expedited Eviction Proceedings under North Carolina law and/or the imposition of penalty fees.
