Right from the outset, there is nothing at all wrong with this hotel. I'd say it's bedrooms (although clean, functional and comfortable enough) were more befitting of a 3 star status. The hotel grounds with its lovely luscious gardens, and the pool overlooking the beach from the cliff, would be a 5 star. All staff are friendly enough, and clientele at this hotel is good (seems to have a lot of repeat visitors which is good in itself).
Breakfast is good; the fruit is amazing, and there is plenty of breads, yogurts, juices, etc and they do try to rotate the cooked food.
If you can get a room looking out on to the pool I think this would be preferential as your terrace looks out onto the gardens/ pool and the sea beyond that. We got a room at the back of the hotel and never sat out once on our terrace as it was a bit of an eyesore to be honest, so always went round to the pool. The rooms looking out on the pool don't get the sun after about 2pm anyway.
Its a short walk into town, yet far enough away for peace and quiet and the shutters/ curtains ensure a good nights, undisturbed rest.
Lastly, don't let them kid you that there gym is anyway decent at all. Unless you're caught in a timewarp and like the multi-gyms that were used in the 80s!
A good hotel to go and relax, don't expect rooms that are too luxurious but have everything you need, and it is good value for money, and I see no reason why you wouldn't enjoy a stay here.
