"My wife and I made our 1st trip to the Smoky Mtns. but we wanted to avoid the crowds of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. This little place was just right, with modern accommodations and tastefully decorated with a cabinesque feel inside and out. "We were there to ride the Great Smokey Railroad through the Nantahala Gorge. The location was perfect. Not far from the train depot. "I am obsessed with the property and the bus! My husband and I stayed for a night with our three toddlers while taking a night off from section hiking the AT. "Our group enjoyed the peaceful seclusion of this beautiful property. We spent a week at the cabin and left only once to see some of the local waterfalls. The views of Lake Fontana and background mountains were stunning, particularly during early morning and before sunset. "We’ve stayed in many VRBO places and this is my very favorite. Hated to leave. Loved the creek running right by the house and spent a lot of time enjoying it. Home is beautifully decorated, well stocked, easy to get into Franklin. Didn’t have a chance to use the fire circles as the weather didn’t cooperate on the day we were free. Nice hike at Rufus Morgan trail and gorgeous views at Wayah Bald and tower. Kathy was very responsive to any questions. Hope to return some day "
