Villa Hakuna Matata Bonaire, your paradise in the carribean !

Villa Hakuna Matata is a stylishly furnished villa with sleeping accommodation for up to 12 people.
Depending on the number of persons on your reservation/ booking, you have at your disposal 4 ,5 or 6 (*) bedrooms with air conditioning, 4,5 or 6 and ensuite bathrooms with shower, toilet and sink, a separate guest toilet, a spacious living room and a fully equipped open kitchen with dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffee maker and more.
From the kitchen and living room you have a view of the pool and sun beds.
At the gazebo, covered with palm leaves, you can enjoy a view of the sea, where you can relax completely.

Villa Hakuna Matata is located in the Hato district, because of its central location it is the perfect base for your stay on our beautiful "Island in the Sun" Bonaire!

- The PADI and CMAS Dive Instructors from Hakuna Matata Bonaire will be happy to introduce you to Scuba diving in our clear warm ocean just accross the street. Diving courses and guided dives are also offered.
- Dive package unlimited air shordiving for certified divers.
- Tailor-made sightseeing tours with official tour guide Jos.
- Discover the Caves of Bonaire with our certified guides Jos or Jim.

Our villa is ideally located, close access to the sea and small beach ( half coral half sand).
We are central located on the island, and 3 km from the center of town.
Yet it offers a lot of privacy and is very spacious.
We are lucky to have the Bonerian nature right next to our door.
A group of Laura's, the local parrots, enjoy spending the night next to our villa.
This creates beautiful scenes in the morning and in the evening.
You can also enjoy iguanas and lizards from your lounge.
And regularly "Bob", the neighborhood donkey, passes by with his family.
This is why we have to close the gate in the evening, otherwise he really comes to visit, however more for the kliko waste bin but still.
About us:
We are from Belgium and have landed on Bonaire through our passion for diving.
For years we have made dive trips to incredible destinations including Bonbaire, Philippines, Thailand, Galapagos, Egypt, Mediterranean, Komodo Islands, our own North Sea etc....
What caught the eye was that the destination Bonaire was always on our program every 2 à 3 trips. We didn't get bored of this place, on the contrary we discovered more and more and fell in love with it.
We are both dive instructors, and there is no place on earth that offers so much beauty and gives so much freedom to water sports enthusiasts as Bonaire. Magnificent reefs with colorful fish and coral, very easily accessible.
Also for windsurfers or kiteboarders it is THE PLACE TO BE !
Now that we are living here, we also enjoy being on land.
We walk and mountainbike regularly in this beautiful nature. Ok, we have an electric bike;-) Hakuna Matata hey... No worries!
We take our sports on the easy)))
For years we organized dive trips for our diving club in Dilbeek, and found out that this is really something we like.
We love to share and let people get introduced to Bonaire.
We enjoy it!

Quiet and restful
We loved staying here! Jos could not have been more helpful and kind. He lives right next door. The pluses are that you are never far from anything in Bonaire, from attractions to grocery stores. The property is beautiful and we loved the large opening to the outside and the pool. The tree house is magical and another intimate outside space to go to. The pool was just the right temperature and size. There are plenty of blow-dryers ( ladies! ) And you don't really need an electric converter unless you want to use a straightener by the mirror! The coffeemaker only makes one pot at a time with whole beans, so if that's important to you, I advise bringing a small coffee maker. The water is good, so no need for nasty one use plastic water bottles. Favorites site is Lac Bay! The water is calm, warm, and shallow. On the way, stop by the donkey sanctuary! They are a hoot! Shore snorkeling and diving are excellent. But beware, there are not many sandy beaches to sunbathe as the shore is pretty rocky ( iron shore). Each bedroom has a beach bag, beach towels, small cooler, refrigerator and a safe! They have thought of everything! The stove is conduction so ask how to use it if you're not already familiar- trust me in this. Oh and watch for the hilarious parrots that fly above and cackle at each other!

Beautiful property
Hakuna Matata was amazing. We rented all of the rooms which gave our party of 12 plenty of room. The pool was such a nice feature in the afternoons after our full days of diving. We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else on the island as the location was perfect for diving as well as trips into town. We rented two trucks which made it easy to explore the island. Christa and Jos were excellent hosts- very responsive and provided great recommendations. We will definitely highly recommend to our friends and family.

Lovely large house with fabulous viewing deck
Very comfortable house, homely feel and safe location. Lots of space for everyone (our party consisted of 7 adults plus a baby). The friendly and knowledgeable owners live right next but observe absolute privacy for their renters. Pool quite deep. Great reef – quiet spot – within very short walking distance. Our absolute favorite spot at sunrise and sunset, and when we preferred some cooling winds during the day, was the large viewing deck (much larger than the pictures show). The best sunsets we have ever seen at Bonaire.

Wonderful 2 week stay at hakuna Matata
Our group of 10 had a very comfortable stay at the villa. All 5 rooms were very comfortable with washrooms and good ac. The kitchen and bbq were very handy for preparing meals. The lovely pool was great for cooling off in the afternoon. Dive lockers fo each room was very handy for the divers in our group. A favourite hangout is the treehouse, the raised gazebo from which we could watch the ocean and the birds and the iguanas In the neighbouring green space. Christa and jos were very attentive and the few problems we had were resolved very quickly. Would definately stay again if we have a large group like this again. The perfect spot for our getaway!

Beautiful vacation property, amazing island
From the moment we arrived in Bonaire we could tell it was something special. Beautiful! We rented a pick-up truck from the airport. Driving to Hakuna Matata was no problem. Checking-in at the property was quick and easy. Jos was there to let us in and show us around. We enjoyed a cold beer during our tour! Having Christa and Jos on the property is nice. They are super close to answer any questions you have. Their place backs onto the rental property so, although they are close it is still completely private and you would never know they were there. They house is more than fully equipped. I can't think of one thing we needed that wasn't there. Grocery shopping in Bonaire is amazing! We cooked some amazing meals at home with the fancy stove and new BBQ. The pool area is beautiful, private and comfortable. There is an honour bar in the kitchen. A super cool concept that we took full advantage of. Having cold drinks available was a huge bonus. Touring Bonaire was lovely. We ate at some amazing restaurants. We visited the donkey sanctuary, love those kind animals! Best of all we loved the diving. Tanks and equipment were rented from Dive Friends. They have a location just up the road. The shore diving is awesome. Probably the most alive and undisturbed reefs I've ever seen. They do an amazing job of keeping the sea beautiful and clean. I did not seen one piece of garbage. We can't wait to return and check out more of the sites the island has to offer. We will definitely return to Bonaire and stay with Christa and Jos again. Peaceful retreat!
Wonderful experience at Hakuna Matata! Christa and Jos are extremely accommodating, and communication was fast and easy. The property is ideal if you're diving as we were able to rent equipment from our hosts and engage their services as a dive guide. The pool is beautiful, and we spent time in the tree house watching sunsets and parrots. The kitchen is equipped and we cooked many meals and ate in the open dining area between the kitchen and pool. We also used the barbecue grill. Each bedroom has an air conditioning unit which keeps you cool while sleeping. Due to the open nature of the living space air conditioning is not practical, but opening both front and back doors keeps the breeze flowing and the temperature comfortable. The property is located just north of town, only a 5 minute car ride. While not directly on the water, you can walk to Petries Pillar dive site on the water, and you have great views of the water from the tree house. Our group was 5 ladies and we felt very safe and secure on the property and walking in the surrounding neighborhood. This is a unique property that we would recommend.

What a relaxing holiday
When we arrived the owner was waiting for us ,very warm welcome.He went over all the items with us, and what we forgot to ask his follow up was very prompt. The house was very clean upon our arrival they had everything we needed. Only suggestion is if they could write down operation of everything that would be very helpful and better tips of the island. Our stay was great and beaches were beautiful. Carl Witte and guest.
