Villa Areti - A Cottage in the Cretan Nature

Our beautiful traditional Cretan cottage is a 2 floor, 3 bedrooms, 120m2 house and is surrounded by rich flora and fauna, emerged in the typical Cretan Nature. Centuries old chestnut trees offer your rich shade and there are a number of hiking paths for you to explore and experience the glorious Cretan landscape. We are located at Strovles village, near the historic village of Kantanos and at driving distance of the world famous locations of South of Chania such as Elafonisi, Paliochora & more!

A large space with lots of natural light, decorated with traditional furniture. Next to the living room, there is the kitchen corner offering all needed equipment, appliances, and amenities for preparing your own meals. Right next to it you will find a dining table for your group's meals. Lots of heirlooms are located in the living room, a cozy little fireplace and a sofa bed for if your group consists of more than 5 people.

• Bedrooms
On the ground floor right next to the kitchen there is a queen bedroom with its own flat tv, closets for storing your luggage and a large window from where natural light enters the room. There is a wooden stair that takes you to the upper floor where two more bedrooms are located. The first bedroom has a queen-sized bed for two people. The second bedroom has a single bed for one extra person. We also can provide a BABY COT on request

• Bathroom
On the ground floor, you will find a small shower/wc and the washer which you can use for free for the duration of your stay. On the second floor, there is another shower/WC. We provide all essentials and various toiletries for your convenience. In more detail, we provide shampoo, soap, and other sanitary items.

• Outdoors
Our cottage home is located at Strovles village and it is surrounded by a rich Cretan landscape. Just some meters away from our home there are a number of hiking paths if you want to explore the rich nature of our place. Chestnut trees forests, many of which date back to 12th century, first seeded by the Venetians who inhabited the island during that time. There are also barbecue facilities which you can freely use if you want so.

There are barbeque facilities available and outdoor furniture and spaces to enjoy your meals of the day or just a coffee along with the sounds of the Cretan nature.

Our place is great for large groups of people looking after authentic Cretan experience in a very traditional village that has all the needed for a relaxing and simple stay at a cottage. You will find restaurants, cafes, mini markets and everything needed on the vicinity. If you want more supplies, in the nearby village of Kantanos you will find stores, butcher shops, fish shops and much more.

The uniqueness of the neighborhood is that this house is located in a very traditional Cretan environment. People in these villages work the fields as farmers shepherds and beekeepers. Depending on the season of your visit you can experience the harvest of olives and the extraction of olive oil, the collection of grapes and the wine or ‘raki’ making process, harvest of the chestnuts, nuts and almonds!

The visitor can combine the experience of vacations in a uniquely beautiful place, a traditional retreat while at the same time he is located at driving distance to some of the most famous hotspots of South Chania, such as Elafonisi world famous pink sanded shallow watered lagoon beach, the attached to it Kedrodasos majestic beach, Paliochora world famous village, numerous hikes, gorges, ancient churches, rich flora, and fauna!

*Please be aware that our rates exclude an additional stayover tax. For stays from April to October, the tax is €15 per night, while from November to March, it is €4 per night. This tax applies to all bookings starting January 1st, 2024. Guests are required to pay this additional tax directly to the check-in assistant who will be responsible for key handover upon arrival.
