Subject: Urgent: Billing & Refund Issues at Aloft Marriott Country Club Plaza Kansas City

I booked a stay at Aloft via Expedia over 7 days before arrival, paying in advance per Expedia policy. Despite this, I was charged again at check-in due to two reservations—one paid, one “pay upon arrival”—and at a higher rate than quoted. How did the reservation not cancel after 7 days without payment?
I arrived after check-in time, waited 35 minutes for my room due to understaffing, and then while dinnering with a friend, I received a notification of the additional room charge on my Navy Federal account, ruining the meal and forcing me to spend time on the phone.
Now, Aloft/Marriott says it will take 7-10 business days to refund, even though I didn't occupy both rooms simultaneously. If you can charge upfront, why delay refunds? This experience is unacceptable and has damaged my trust. I regularly recommend your brands but will now advise against it. I demand an immediate explanation and prompt refund.
