- Due to the home's private, undeveloped, tropical location, guests may come in contact with geckos inside of the home. They are not aggressive, are normal to see in the area and help control the bug population. There are ultrasonic frequency emitters in the home to keep them away
- The property is not suitable for children
- Your safety matters. This property features 2 exterior security cameras on the owner’s main house (not the guest property). Camera 1 is a Ring device on the owner’s front door of the main house facing the street and driveway. Camera 2 is on the owner’s back door of the main house facing the yard, stairwell, and backyard. The cameras are outward facing and do not look into interior spaces. The cameras record video and sound when activated by motion

HAWAII COUNTY RESTRICTIONS
- Quiet hours shall be from 9:00pm to 8:00am, during which time the noise from the rental shall not unreasonably disturb adjacent neighbors
- Sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be more excessive than would be otherwise associated with a residential area

Only the BEST!
The perfect setting for a Kona Side stay! April, your host, is fantastic and this was the most well appointed vacation rental we've ever stayed at, she thought of everything. The sitting area is private, facing the undeveloped island flora, perfect for morning coffee or evening cocktail. A few short blocks and your at Magic Beach, and walking either way from there is more beaches in short distance. We could not recommend this rental more!

Big Island Break
Great stay, great location, and quiet neighborhood. The property has everything one needs. My only suggestion would be to put black out curtains on the east side of the bedroom, including the top windows, since the sun rises early.

Perfect little rental
This rental was great for my husband and my honeymoon. Super short walk to the beach. Great shopping 3 miles down and the rental had everything you’d need to cook at the property. There was also supplies in the bathroom like sunscreen and shower supplies. Wonderful quiet outdoor seating area where we drank coffee. Would definitely recommend and go back if I’m ever in Hawaii on the big island.

A Must-Stay For The Big Island
Absolutely amazing place. Plenty of room. Extremely comfortable. Quiet. Access to plenty of amenities and necessities such as washer/dryer, grill, outdoor patio, etc. The location is tranquil, peaceful, and perfectly situated to get to wherever you need to go. The host was very kind and communicative about any questions that I had. She also did a great job honoring our space as guests. My wife and I felt that we had our own private little bungalow in Hawaii. Highly recommend this place and will try to stay here the next time we come back to the island.

Best Honeymoon/Vacation Ever!
Hawaii was magical, and the house was everything we needed and didn't even know we needed! Being within walking distance of Magic Sands Beach as well as a public transit stop meant that we had so many options without having to find parking. It was not only convenient, but enjoyable. The house was so well stocked; every time we thought we might need a little something, we discovered it was already there (Bandaids, swimmers ear drops, cooking sprays and spices, etc). It was like staying at your best friend's house! Waking up to the natural light and birdsong was transformative, and was the perfect start to every day. There was good ventilation with windows and fans, plus AC when needed. Every little extra, from the available beach gear to the washer/dryer, made it a truly unforgettable experience. We can't wait to visit again!

Good location. Quiet. Clean. Had everything we needed--even for watersports and beach time. Appreciate that it was simply decorated, not over the top beach kitsch, like so many other places. April responded quickly to the few questions we had. Great base camp for our 10 year anniversary getaway.

Don't miss this property! Perfect for solo travelers and couples, or friends if one is willing to sleep on the comfortably firm couch. Everything you need and centrally located to reach South and North Kona destinations. Easy rinseoff and drying for gear for snorkelers.

Delightful cottage in Kona
The place is very modern and beautiful. We enjoyed the fact that I had AC. The amenities in the home is wonderful! We had all we need to make some meals. Every inch of this guest home is masterfully designed, from the living room, height of the home to the bathroom--wonderful! Everything is very spectacularly designed. We felt like it was a great getaway. There is a little path that you can cut through to get to the beach. All the beaches are pretty close in distance within 1 mile to 2 mi. We surfed and snorkeled near by. The host has awesome Tommy Bahama Beach chairs that you can load up and wear to enjoy a long stay at the beach if you choose. We had a great time and enjoyed being able to stay in your guest home. Thank you very much! April was a great communicator and checked in before the trip to make sure everything went smoothly. It was a very easy clean up/ tidy process. It was wonderful to have parking as we rented a car for our Kona stay. Thanks for everything

Everything perfect
Perfect stay. Property was excellent, very quiet, clean and everything we needed. Owners were so kind and provided everything we needed and were helpful with tons of info about the area. Loved the location. It was close to everything around Kona yet far enough from Kona proper to be quiet. Magic Sands was a ton of fun and provided perfect sunset views. Walking distance to a couple of great snorkeling locations.

Great stay!
This little cottage had everything we needed for a super comfortable stay. We visited the Kona farmers market and made great use of the kitchen and small outdoor grill. Kitchen is very well equipped for light meals and dinners outside were peaceful, once we were prepared with some mosquito repellent. Internet was fast and reliable, so we could work in the mornings before heading out for the day. Fans and AC made the cottage comfortable. Washer and dryer were much appreciated! April recommended a shortcut to walk to the beach, restaurants, beaches and hikes, which we took advantage of! Umekes Grill was a highlight. We returned one day to find Connor cleaning a huge fish that he caught spear fishing! He offered some to us for dinner, but we'd just returned with some fresh swordfish to throw on the grill and regrettably passed. This was a wonderful stay, I'd highly recommend to others and would definitely stay again on the Big Island!

Perfect Location and Lovely Cottage with Everything We Could Need
The cottage was exactly what we were looking for and so perfectly situated for how we wanted to spend our vacation. It was so wonderfully quiet so we could enjoy waking up to the sounds of the birds AND the sound of the waves! There's a neighborhood shortcut to the beach that April told about which was awesome and made it a 6 minute walk to the water as well as a great little beach and restaurant we enjoyed a number of times during our stay. The cottage had all the amenities we could imagine including snorkeling gear and beach chairs and umbrellas which were great, and being able to do our own laundry was a really nice plus. We would love to stay here again the next time we're on the big island!

Perfect size, location and amenities (and we loved chatting with the goats!)
We spent 10 days in Feb visiting 3 islands. The accommodations at Kailua-Kona Cottage were are favorite (others were a larger hotel on Waikiki/Oahu, a condo on Maui and a B&B elsewhere on The Big Island). For 2 people, the size was perfect. If we had stayed longer (we did a 3-night rental) we would have for sure taken advantage of the grill/patio, but we had a lot of side trips planned so ate on the run, or just brought carryout back. Kona was the mid-point of the trip, so having access to the owner's washer/dryer was super convenient. (it was part of the main house/shared, but you never felt you were intruding using them) The owners were onsite in the main house next door, but we never saw them. It's just a really nice set up with check-in/out instructions well communicated, etc. It rained the nights we stayed there, so we left the windows open and that probably meant we were serenaded by the goats more than had we been running the AC. The sounds of nature didn't bother us and added to the charm. Overall a great stay and a nice location for exploring north and south of Kona. If we return, we'd stay there again.

Serene, Peaceful Cottage
This was a wonderfully relaxing place to spend time on the Big Island. The cottage is located in a relatively private wooded area, surrounded by a cacophony of birds and the occasional bleats of goats but it does quiet considerably at night. The layout of the dwelling is perfect for 2 people. It has a small living room, which we didn't use. A good-sized bedroom, a small kitchen, and plenty of outdoor space to spread out in. The kitchen has almost everything you would need to make your food on a daily basis, and if you need to grill, well that's available outside as well. There is also plenty of space available in the refrigerator and freezer for your grocery items. As for comfort, it can (and does) get warm in the house during the afternoon and evening hours, but there are plenty of fans (including a portable one and ceiling fan in the bedroom) and the small window air conditioner helps cool things off at night. I'm not a sound sleeper when a place is too warm, however given the combination of fans and the AC, I had no issues. As for the location, it is a quick walk to Magic Sands Beach, which is great for body surfing or boogie boarding (2 boogie boards are available as are flippers and a mask). It is also great for just watching the waves. It is not a large beach, and given the big waves when we were there it might not be great for little kids. Another alternative is Kahalu'u Beach Park which is about a mile south. This was a much larger location with smaller waves near the shore. But what made this beach magical was the snorkeling. Perhaps some of the best I've ever seen or done. The reef area is quite large and there are numerous fish close to shore, and even more to be seen farther out by the seawall. I would highly recommend going there. From the house, it would be about a 1.3-mile walk. This is something you might want to consider if you don't want to park. The beach has a small lot and they charge $12 for 4 hours. Parking does fill up fast. So walk or not, I think it is well worth the trip. Also kudos to the property owner, April, for answering any questions I had in a prompt manner! So finally I ask the question would I stay at this property again? Absolutely, I would have no reservations about it!

Would recommend arriving during the day as rental was hard to locate in the dark with no lights and awkward driveway parking. Rental was clean and quiet with private BBQ and outdoor table/chairs. Had an awkward hole for an oven but was replaced by a steel table and an electric cooktop. Easy access to Kona town, nice quiet, safe neighborhood. Has a nice view of wilderness. Would stay again.

Private Paradise
My husband and I stayed here for 5 days in February. It's a wonderful location on a quiet cul-de-sac. Magic Sands beach park was under construction so we opted for Kahalu'u beach five minutes north. Great snorkeling here with docents to guide you. The guest house was perfect for two was clean, attractively decorated with a well-equipped kitchen. The only drawback was the front room got very warm as there were no shade blinds or curtains for the living area.
