Elk Horn - Big Canoe GA

Elk Horn is a premier luxury four-bedroom cottage located in the new Choctaw Village area near the Club House, with accessible walking trails managed by Mountain Home Rentals of Georgia. Every detail has been meticulously crafted, from the 200-year-old heart of pine floors to quality furnishings.

The main floor features an open kitchen, a great room, a large dining room with a gas fireplace, an HD flat-screen TV, a half bath, and a master bedroom with a king bed, an HD flat-screen TV, and a large master bath with a walk-in shower and separate tub. A deck off the main floor includes a propane gas fireplace for your enjoyment.

Upstairs, you'll find a king bedroom with a bathroom that includes a tub and separate walk-in shower, as well as an office in the loft. Downstairs, there is a queen bedroom and a bunk bed bedroom (one twin and one double), each with its own bathroom. The rec room features a gas fireplace, an HD flat-screen TV, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a wine cooler, plus a futon for extra sleeping accommodations.

Cozy and comfortable with enough space to spread out for family of 8. Would have liked more wash rags and towels for each bathroom and bath mats in front of showers and tubs. Light in master bedroom needs bulb to be replaced. The fan turned on but the ceiling light would not. Cozy, clean stay all in all and would come back!

Great, but...

amenities has some issues (mainly some of the furniture, that posed real hazards. Management sent a team member to mitigate immediately. Communication was very good, but not personal. Location and property were excellent, very family oriented. We enjoyed the Big Canoe amenities. There were a couple of things that stood out. First, they have a pretty hefty cleaning fee, which while substantial, we may understand for the size of the place. However, they require guests to take out their own trash to the transfer station, which may or may not be convenient for everyone. This is becoming an increasing trend among rentals on VRBO. We will start filtering against it, since it is a major deterrent as a guest, that is renting in order not think about the responsibilities of home life.

Elk Horn Home away

The property has a small front yard, but back yard is large and wooded. We saw deer several times. The outside of the home is mostly well kept. We (and our dog) loved the downstairs patio and decks. The outside chairs and furniture were dusty and dirty with some only in fair condition. The outside grill worked nicely. We loved the lay-out of the home and decor. Inside furniture/rugs were in good condition on main floor. Beds were comfortable. The third floor bedroom tv wasnā€™t connected to a service and there was no furniture on their deck. We had trouble with the oven sealing enough around the edges to cook our biscuits, casseroles, and cake. I had to sit and hold the door on the stove closed so the door ajar signal would not come on and the oven would stay hot. The management was prompt to send a repairman out when I called to complain. The repairman said someone had stood on the oven door and stripped the hinges. They were quick to bring us a large toaster oven replacement. There were some other things that lowered our satisfaction rating of the property: The downstairs tv did not work properly, downstairs fireplace didnā€™t work, the downstairs refrigerator didnā€™t stay cold, the upstairs regular ice maker didnā€™t work well (we liked the custom ice maker though), and the toilet in the master suite took 45-60 seconds to flush with handle held down the whole time. For the price of the property, I expected all updated/clean furniture and everything in working order.

We had a good visit. We did have an issue with the grill the last night we were there and a couple of issues we discussed with the property manager. I liked the property and everyone had a great time.

Great place in Big Canoe

This is the second time in as many trips we have stayed at the Elk Horn lodge. We love the location near the south gate with the golf course and lake close by as well. It is always clean and well stocked with basic kitchen needs. The house was the lerfect size for our group of 6 and easily could have accommodated more people. Im sure we will be back again next year!

Wonderful place

Big Canoe is a wonderful place to get away. Beautiful views and the leaves this time of year were amazing! The home is beautiful with nice furnishings and very roomy. The stairs are steep so be prepared. Kitchen is well stocked. Beds were comfortable. The only down side might be that being dog friendly the couches could use cleaning or replacing. Would recommend though as we had a wonderful time here.

Spacious home, located in a nice part of Big Canoe. Home is promoted as a premier home however, the property itself is in need of repairs and updating. I would rate the house more in the 2 to 3 star range. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the local wineries and Big Canoes marina. The staff members and property manager were very friendly and super helpful. You should make sure to bring your own towels, even though linens are included with property there were only a few towels.

Great stay in Big Canoe

My family and I decided last minute to visit Big Canoe for a long weekend. This property was every bit as advertised and an amazing rental for my family. Very clean and plenty of space with nice amenities. We had everything we needed in the kitchen whichnis not always the case. I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a nice option in Big Canoe.

Fabulous mountain getaway

This home is beautiful, spacious and beautifully decorated. It offers everything you could want for a family getaway. The multi levels allowed space for private times as well as a large kitchen and dining area to come together for meals. The multiple decks and outdoor areas allowed us to enjoy the crisp fresh air. The management staff were so nice and went above and beyond for anything we needed. Although we were here for wedding arrangements, we also managed a very needed work break for all of us. We will most definitely be back. A truly wonderful weekend!

Great Adult Getaway

We had four couples and the layout was great. Plenty of room to be together or steal a few moments and be alone. Love all of the fireplaces, inside and outside. Great location! Short drive to apple orchard, vineyard, shops, and food. Would recommend to others and look forward to going back!

Great luxury cabin getaway!

We stayed for a long weekend over the Christmas holiday and it couldnā€™t have been more perfect! We had an issue figuring out the main fireplace and called for maintenance, and they came out immediately, and also sent the propane company to refill the gas just in case. The house itself was beautiful, clean and even larger than the photos. Canā€™t wait to come back!

40th birthday celebration

We stayed at this beautiful home for a quick birthday getaway. The house was fully stocked with all the essentials. Each of us had ample room to spread out! The screened in porch and view were awesome! I highly recommend this home !

Beautiful cabin, amazing amenities

We were amazed by this spacious cabin located in a stunning gated neighborhood that reminded us of a national park. Before our arrival, there were power outages due to a storm and the host called and kept us posted until the power was back on. We were appreciative of the thorough communication. The area where we stayed had tons of walking trails, 3 dog parks, and a massive lake. We will be back!
