We just spent four nights over the Fourth of July, wanting peace and quiet for our dog, who hates fireworks, as well as some time away with friends, and some friends who came up for a day. And this rental fits the bill perfectly.
The view off the full back deck is beautiful; you look at trees and nature; we ate breakfast almost every day on it. Neighboring houses are hardly noticeable. Wildlife abounds; I saw deer twice on the property, and several times on the drive into or out of Sutter Creek.
Facilities are very good; the kitchen is above average for a cabin-type rental, and two grills are provided, one charcoal, one propane. The house sits above Sutter Creek, which this year is flowing nicely, and our Golden Retriever enjoyed very much. (Note that the hillside is a bit steep). We also drove to the nearby North Fork of the Mokelumne River and spent some time on a beach. (The water was higher and faster than normal, so no chance for our dog to get out there.)
Inside there is a large sectional, and one of the largest ottoman/pouf/lounging thing-a-mabobs I've ever seen. You can even fall asleep on it! The TV is upstairs, part of a little entertainment area/sleeping area (with foosball table). The downstairs bedroom was very nice, opening on to the deck, with a great mattress. Our friend reports her bed was comfortable as well.
The cabin's location is about 10 minutes from the city of Sutter Creek, 15 minutes from Jackson, 20 from Plymouth and the Shenandoah Valley AVA. From Sacramento, it's a little over an hour away, and is well worth the drive.
One caveat this time of year: there were quite a few wasps flying around. I suspect a lot of this is due to the good rains we've had the past couple of years.
We will definitely be back.
