Description:
Designed as if classic ship of the sea, “Second Star” is a hidden treasure along the Charleston Coast. Featuring a new salt water private pool, fun amenities and views out toward the Atlantic, “Second Star” will delight your family with its beautiful décor. Every detail of the home is unique, such as the wood flooring that originated from an 80-year-old cotton mill from the upstate of South Carolina. Sanded and polished, the ancient wood flooring is gorgeous.
A retired naval officer originally designed and built “Second Star” prior to near tear down redesign a few years ago. But key concepts of the home’s beginning design around a sea vessel remain. The front of the home is shaped like the bow of a ship, with the “ships bridge” being the upper-level living room. Featuring a line of windows, exposed wood beams, shiplap wood walls and perfectly polished wood floors, the “ships bridge” points to the south south west and straight out to sea. In fact, nearly every room of “Second Star” has an ocean view.
The first level of “Second Star” is where you will find the gourmet kitchen (the galley). Every component of the kitchen is first class with stainless steel commercial grade appliances, granite countertops and plenty of room for your family to gather to share stories of the day. In addition to the kitchen, the first level features the dining room as well as the family room. Two of the five bedrooms are on the lower level each with a private bath.
Along with the living room, the second level features three bedrooms, each with a private bath. The “crow’s nest” top level balcony can be accessed by two bedrooms. A bonus feature are the two screened porches that will provide a mosquito free night for your family while enjoying the sea breeze.
“Second Star” has direct beach access by a path that runs next to the home. The Atlantic is less than 200 yards away! This section of the beach is fantastic with little public parking making it nearly exclusive to the homes within the neighborhood. Rolling dunes and wide beach will welcome you and your family. If you have golfers or family members that would like to visit a spa, Wild Dunes is just across the street from 54th Avenue. There are two famous golf courses in Wild Dunes in addition to several restaurants and a lovely day spa. Best yet, Historic Charleston is only 25 minutes away.
